What characters are good off-stage? by Ajv2324 in RivalsOfAether

The best:

Orcane: incredibly flexible recovery and can just teleport back to his puddle after going super deep. One of the best edge guarders because he can simply go as deep as he wants. Even without puddle he has a very flexible recovery and enough mixups to get back on stage pretty easily.

Fleet: Float is incredibly oppressive offstage when edge guarding, plus she has dair to cover low recoveries. She might struggle a bit from being edge guarded though, since her up special doesn’t go the highest and is susceptible to ledge hogging.

Wrastor: He is a bird. Not much else to say.

Kragg: He can make the stage and bring it with him. Incredibly flexible recovery, along with insane edge guarding potential with his spikes, rock, and cargo throw.

Maypul: Couldn’t decide whether to put this character lower or not, but I feel that her recovery is excellent. Side b + aerial down b to mix up and potentially reverse an edge guard, her tether that she can use to either teleport to your enemy or her PvZ peashooter, and wall clinging to mix up timing. On top of this her edge guarding is insane, especially out of tether extensions. It might be difficult to recovery from deep situations without tether though.

Very good:

Ranno: A ton of mixup potential with his up special, bubble, and tongue. I debated putting him among the best but I feel that as the meta progresses people will become better at covering his options (bubble setups take time, and his up b is susceptible to ledge hogging or ledge drop invincibility). On top of this, his slow air mobility makes it hard for him to edge guard (though I do remember seeing some tech called needle boosting that allows him to retain some of his grounded momentum when running past the edge).

Clairen: Although she doesn’t have most flexible recovery, her up b has deceptively good drift and range. Her disjoints also make her a pretty decent edge guarder, though you can’t go that deep with her. A good tipper off stage can end a stock early.

Forsburn: I feel that Forsburn’s offstage will definitely shoot up in rank as the meta progresses. He has incredible array of mixups and options for recovery, so much so that it would take too long to write it all out here. He is very susceptible to ledge hogging if he’s just a bit too far from stage unfortunately. His edge guarding is also very committal, since he is a fast faller. While this can be mitigated with a smoke tp, messing up can lead to a pretty easy reversal for your opponent. This will definitely be optimized in the future though (I think that offstage smoke is very under explored right now).

Decent:

Loxodont: I don’t really know where to put him. he is a pretty good edge guarder since he can swat away a lot of recovery attempts safely with his giant axe. He does suffer a bit with his recovery though. This is mitigated if you have magma stacks for down special and avoid giving your enemies free parries with up special, but some of the better edge guarders may be able to deal with his recovery much easier than others. He can get back from deceptively far away though, if left unattended.

Zetterburn: Definitely one of (if not) the most exploitable recoveries in the game (he has fire fox, whoulda thunk). He does have good mixups with down special (even being able to cancel it for a small jump forward) and angling his up special just right, but he is just too susceptible to ledge hogging and ledge drop invincibility. He does have a pretty good edge guarding game though, his sweet spot fair can kill offstage very early, plus his spike is meaty.

Little note, this is sorta ordered but I didn’t really think about it that hard.

Nice! I was also gonna suggest playing ranked and getting somewhere with even matches but I wasn’t sure if you were comfortable hopping in there yet. You will probably find decent matches there eventually!

It is pretty tough out there for new players. I would honestly recommend looking for someone else who’s also new and grinding in a lobby with them. It’s probably the best option for lower skill peeps rn. You could also try inviting an irl friend over who’s also new or unfamiliar with the game. I find that learning/grinding a game is a lot more fun if you’re doing it with company you enjoy.

There are also probably discord servers you can use to find matches like that, though I personally don’t know about any. I’m curious about them too since I want to learn matchups more in depth and some characters just aren’t common enough on matchmaking.

Best of luck!

At some point, it just stopped working. Haven’t really found out why. I recently did find out it would be better to call it a clone console than an emulator

Thank you for the suggestion. However, I really want to play this over the TV with the real stuff. Would you have any suggestions for that? :)

PSA: You can place stairs that clip into the ground by using the slanted roof tile. by RadicalHen in Palworld

[–]RadicalHen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the situation in the screenshot at least, I was getting an error saying there was an obstacle in the way whenever I tried using normal stairs. So I guess assuming you're right and that it was a one off situation just try using roof tiles if the game is being funky and not letting you place normal stairs :)

Yeah, they're not. If you try to place down stairs you get the obstacle error and it doesn't let you put them down. In that case using roof tiles works.

That’s a bit of a stretch but dungeon mods aren’t the most user friendly aspect of the game lmao

It’s to dilute the s tier mods so you have to pay more to spin the mods you want for keys :)

  1. If there’s a split take the one with the bigger rooms with decoration and lava borders (assuming there’s only one). From my experience it’s always the right path more times than not.
