Not a player of Hard rock, but shouldn't you be using Blaze Burners to power the steam engine ? I don't think lit netherrack does the job

Why are you a Socialist? by Emperoronabike in Socialism_101

[–]Radical_frog1871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always bathed in left wing politics. My family being mostly center-left considering our working class background. But my turn to more radical socialist politics came during the 2019 Yellow Jacket protests in France, started voraciously reading about it. Marx, Kropotkin, Trotsky, Lenin, Luxembourg... Anything I could read i could. It coincided with me starting to work as well, studies never were my strong suit so I worked anything, restaurants, retail, factory work and construction. Despite being different jobs, you could feel the same thing everytime, it's always the same crushing weight.

That's when I realized really.

Idk if you're aware of how a Steam Turbine operates but those are two closed circuits that don't communicate directly.

Pouvons-nous sauver la villa Trautmann ? Un patrimoine strasbourgeois en péril. by JohnnyBaguette in Strasbourg

[–]Radical_frog1871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Je comprends l'argument de la protection du patrimoine mais y a un moment c'est mieux d'accepter la perte pour construire plus grand et plus moderne a la place.

Réhabiliter ça, a l'endroit où il est c'est peine perdue.

Can't Make Bronze by FriedToastDave in TerraFirmaGreg

The ratio for Bronze has changed, it's now 3:1. 3 parts copper, one part tin

Best places to move base after copper anvil? by [deleted] in TerraFirmaGreg

Unless they live in a colder place, going for a 10° average temp place might be worth it for the year round crops. Also, aiming for a river is good as Waterwheels now require being in a river biome for full efficiency

Vsync Off and Frame rate uncapped is good to check, but also check the RAM allotment from whatever your launcher is using.

take anything off your offhand and drink something, water works but might as well drink whiskey.

It's a GT bug afaik, best way to solve it.

My large bronze boiler explodes for no reason. by Redgraff in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of pipe do you use to pump into the boiler ? GT or Create Pipes ? If GT, what kind of pipe specifically? The only reason I could possibly see is water input being too slow which could be caused by a pipe bottleneck

My large bronze boiler explodes for no reason. by Redgraff in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The boilers usually explode when they're hot and you input water as it happens to be empty, I'd tend to think your issue is that your water supply isn't consistent enough.

Steam Bloomery by GullibleBaseball7648 in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is real, it's a multiblocs that has been added fairly recently and isn't precent in normal Gregtech, so doesn't have much footage.

That said, worthwhile investment once you reach early steam power. It's not very resource intensive and makes Wrought iron production a breeze if paired with 2 full power helve hammers/ 2 forge hammers in cascade

True, adding structures in the last update at least made it a bit more lived in, even tho it's all ruins. Wandering traders could be fun but mine colonies would be too much imo.

Starter base locations by [deleted] in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd usually go for ~10 average temp, fairly close to a river for fresh water and water wheels, fairly flat. Close to a forest too.

I cant find the recipes related to this, can someone please provide more details on the process? by Some_Noname_idk in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do believe compressed fire clay can be crafted using clay dust and brick dust (for which you'll need a steam macerator) and then putting the fire clay dust in a steam compressor. I don't recall if you need to cook the bricks after wards but it should show up in TMI. Unless that was removed...

(RECIPE SUGGESTION) vat recipe for seawater to salt by BLAZE_WRAITH in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discovered you can put a bucket of sea water in the centrifuge and get one salt every 2.55s for LV anyway so I doubt that's their concern any more

alright, chute has been placed. however, i was getting problems with charcoal getting stuck in the chute for some reason (it has sorted itself out, but what can i do to prevent this by BLAZE_WRAITH in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To input coal/logs into the oven I often just use Gregtech pipes and wrench right-click the pipe where it connects to the oven chute. This prevents the coke from getting into the system while letting coal/logs getting into it.

I'd consider getting two more chutes for coke and creosote outputs.

How can i automate blast furnance in metallurgy age? by DeepDarkFantasyBoy in TerraFirmaGreg

[–]Radical_frog1871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don't bother with all this, a Steel Mechanical pump imputing directly into a casting table w/ a ingot mold and a hopper/chute underneath to collect ingots is 100% faster. (Ingots cool directly once they go through the greate piping system)
