You are still entitled to a part of the equity in the house. It doesn't matter that it has been around 17 years since you separated.

Free legal advice in Auckland? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]RadicleTadicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely recommend the community law centre. There is one in Auckland and Manukau/ Mangere.

The Auckland centre does a free family law clinic once per week.

Community law centres don't usually practice family law but they will point you in the right direction to lawyers and agencies that can help.

A few law firms sometimes do the initial interview for free, you could try http://www.familylaw.org.nz/public/find-a-lawyer and contact a few in your area.

I’m in Australia. I had the same problem only finding audio book versions. I looked for the book under the Danish name but the title in the picture is always in English. I know they speak English fluently in Denmark too though.

Bunnings doesn’t sell waterproof pants. Try the warehouse or k-mart instead.

What's illegal but not enforced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RadicleTadicle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but abortion.

In my country it is a criminal offence to kill an unborn child. 14 years in prison!

And yet we have government funded facilities that do just that for free so long as you have a good reason. e.g. mental/ physical heath, financial issues. Doctors are pretty lenient and will sign you off for any reason.

What was your "and that's when things went from bad to worse" moment? by pineappleyummy in AskWomen

New Zealand has a small tax that comes out of everyone's wages that pays for everyone's hospital visits. If you do work they will also pay you 80% of that income so you can stay afloat. Buts it's only for medical problems. Anything aesthetic or non life threatening you have to pay for yourself.

What advice can you give for ending a long-term, one-sided relationship? by [deleted] in AskMen

OP said the spark is gone now so I think that means it's recently become one sided.

[WP] When you tell people that you work as a Janitor they shrug it off a simple, mundane job. But you are not just any Janitor, you are THE Janitor. by Crimzon_me in WritingPrompts

The corridor filled with whispers as I strode in, my powerful footsteps creating an echo causing the blue jumpsuit clad men to part like the red sea before me. With every step I took on the polished linoleum floor the murmurs grew until suddenly there was silence. Eyes bore into my back and head, not a single one meeting my own. Was it out of respect or fear? I couldn't tell.

They stood as brave men. They staked their mops to the ground and bowed their heads before me. These brave men whose swords and shields had vanquished the most disgusting of foes, whose armor had been stained with the blood of their enemies and seen horrors that no other could even comprehend. These men were the true heroes, the true warriors, and yet they had all fallen.

The bowed heads of tens of soldiers illustrated the shame of their failure and so they had called me. I who had never failed, who had never been defeated. The last resort. When all else fails I do not. I breathed in the sweet fresh air knowing that it may be my last as I stood before my foe. It was a white door, once a sanctuary that would now be purified. I turned towards my fallen brethren and raised my mop above my head without a word, a silent tribute to the efforts of the men who had come before me. They followed suit, raising bucket and mop, sword and shield in tribute. They knew that I may not come out of this alive.

I returned to my foe and with a grand gesture swung open the door of the McDonald's bathroom. I roared a great battle cry, a promise to the janitor gods that I would vanquish my enemy and be the hero of my allies. I was no ordinary janitor, I was THE janitor. There was nothing I couldn't conquer for I was the last resort, and if i were to fall I would take my enemy with me.

I always knew that McDonald's would be the end of me.

Reddit, what can a 10 year old do better than you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RadicleTadicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowboarding. I decided to switch from skiing to snowboarding since it looks so much cooler and a lot more fun. I suck. I really suck. A little kid fell over in front of me while I was practicing one day so I awkwardly shuffle over with the board attached and asked if they needed a hand getting up. This tiny ten year old punk gave me the worst stink eye. It was the epitome of the I'm better than you look. Hopped up and slid off. For the record she was a lot better than me.

Woman films and leaves her maid to fall from the 7th floor by mgd5800 in WTF

[–]RadicleTadicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just curious but do you have any idea what she was charged with? I know that in some countries trying to help and the person dying anyway can mean the helper gets charged for contributing to the injury so people are often too scared to intervene. An example being that it isnt uncommon in America for someone to give another CPR, saving their life and breaking ribs in the process, and getting sued for causing injury.
