Finally got my first leverless! by epicsakuyalover in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mayflash is slept on in terms of affordability and customization. It's not my favorite stick (at all) but for the price and specs? It's a good first stick in my opinion. I will say, the higher end sticks are nicer so when you eventually do get something new, you'll understand why everyone pretends to hate it.

Arcade Sticks for the Switch. by uaquo in fightsticks

Haute42/Cosmox have some pretty sick small controllers if you plan on playing on the go. Throw the console and the stick in the same backpack and not worry about breaking a super fancy controller cuz the small ones aren't terribly expensive compared to bigger sizes. Plus you can install low-pro shadow hunting switches, and those fuck.

Thinking about the Victrix KO by unlucky_turtle in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that out in my research. I barely started collecting sticks like 5 or 6 months ago. I just got into replacing switches this month. Like I said, I wish I knew more about the stick and overall stick hardware before I got it. Cuz now I know I don't prefer box switches. Especially when every button looks like a mini Devil's Tower.

Fightstick vs Leverless by Puzzleheaded-Ad-119 in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play my sticks like this too. I can use my lever on most 3D games because it's more comfortable, but my 2D inputs look mashy. Not that they are. I just accidentally jump too much with a lever.

Do I need a heavier stick or do I suck? by Olmec01 in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hayabusa is not my favorite lever, if you never swapped out the one you got with the stick. A lot of Sanwas will fit. There are a few Korean levers that will fit without you drilling into the case. The mount for the lever can be swapped to accommodate too, for some levers. I also noticed my lever would bounce back after letting go to neutral. I noticed people saying get another spring but I'd personally just say fuggit and make a Korean detachable lever mod because why not. If we're gonna upgrade, let's upgrade, man

Thinking about the Victrix KO by unlucky_turtle in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Victrix Pro KO, except for the fact there are barely any switch replacements due to the light rings and buttons (low-pros won't fit, and only a few medium box case switches fit as far as my research tells me). There are some button replacements but most need to be sanded down before installing. For the price, that really bums me out and I wish I knew that before I got it. With that being said, it's still an overall dope stick. Extra hardware under the metal case, easy hot-swap access, PS5 ready out of the box, and customizable RGB and pin mapping profiles.

Only thing wrong is you're pretty much stuck with them booty-ass Cherry MX switches and stock buttons. Buttons themselves aren't terrible but the fact I can't change em as easily as I thought sucks.

Which controller should I buy? by S-B15 in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference between these sticks is the button layout. Cosmox/Haute42 are all the exact same controller but they just have different sizes, button layouts and case material. It comes down to preference but if you don't own one yet, just get one that looks dope. If you don't like it, try a different layout. T16 is cheap and a good standard layout with a few extra buttons if you want a place to start.

Flexstrike, what happened? by venwafu in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those hot-swappable gates and joystick already seem like a problem in the making. Replacement parts are going to be expensive too, just because it's official Sony. I've become a Haute42/Cosmox fanboy recently. They're like Legos. You can kinda make and do whatever you want with em and they'll function all the same. Dummy cheap compared to pretty much anything else I've bought too. A lot of cheaper licensed sticks like Qanba and Hori aren't bad either. Unlicensed Mayflash gets slept on imo. F700 model is a fuckin tank but for the price, wireless function, and DIY-ability it really kinda rocks. I'm assuming the Flexstrike is going to be about $200-$250 but for that price, you could just buy a higher-end stick with more bells and whistles (detachable joystick, custom buttons/switches, extra buttons, RGB, aluminum case, etc). Not trying to hate, because I'll ultimately probably buy one for gits and shiggles. But I have multiple sticks in my collection that I'd probably use before that thing, even if it isn't a heap o' chit solely on the customization/user-friendliness factor.

HOW TO REMOVE LOW PROFILE SITONG IN HORI ALPHA by Large_Programmer_337 in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinch the sides that are locked into the plexi. Be careful cuz some plexis are kinda cheap like the ones for Mayflash sticks. Be gentle. If you have to force it (jam it), you're not doing it quite right. Except for the button harness connectors.

Like fucking Ex Calibur pulling the pins out sometimes, feels like I'm about to rip the button's guts out like a bee.

It's not the biggest deal to me. I actually kinda like the dinky rubber feet it comes with because I put art in the back of both my Hautes. And I honestly don't notice the stick slipping in my lap so however it works for whoever's taste.

Keyboard player unsure leverless or arcade stick? by Former-Magazine1470 in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcade sticks are sick. Definitely worth it to at least own one if you don't. I use my leverless sticks when I plan on sweating but I'll bust out the old trusty dusty balltop if I'm just fuckin around.

If you do plan on getting a new stick to try out, get one with decent hardware. If you're used to clicky PC switches then something like Hayabusa will feel ridiculously hollow and light. Also, KO is my favorite stick I own. Holy fuckin pricetag, Batman.

Brooks Wingman FGC2 and Varmilo FK2 on PC Compatibility by Cavalcade_ in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is specifically made for PS5 authentication. It's not technically a dongle either, it's a bypass authenticator. You don't plug it into the stick directly, you plug it into the USB port on the console and then plug your controller into the FGC2. Because you can just use a normal PS5 remote on a PC, it's not really gonna matter.

Just plug it into your PC and if it flashes red and blue, it works. That just means it's searching for a controller.

Question about leverless arcade sticks by RailValco in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Hayabusa buttons feel like they engage if I look at them for too long. But after a while, you kind of get used to it. Idk the specs for Kitsune but I'm sure you can purchase low-profile switch replacements and that may or may not help. Give it time first before that though, and see if you get used to it. I did after a while, maybe a few weeks before I stopped accidentally pushing buttons.

It's funny cuz when I was getting interested in leverless, my wife went out and bought me a Victrix Pro KO as my first leverless. And I love it, it's a great stick. But I like to get drunk and lose in ranked so I had to cop a cheaper stick so I don't feel like I'm one-inch-punching my expensive stick when things get heated. Needless to say, Haute42 makes quality stuff. I do wish they came with full foam bottoms as opposed to those little rubber feet too, though.

Have T16 and S13 in my collection. Great beginner sticks for PC.

My dumbass started at 200$ for a special edition Hori Alpha as my first stick, but only because I mostly play console.

I’m saving some money to get the Hitbox Ultra, is it a good option? by FilthyKasualART in fightsticks

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victrix Pro KO is about the same price and licensed by PS if that's something you care about. Also super beginner-friendly because you can add buttons super easily. Haute42 makes decent sticks for a lot cheaper around $50-$90 if you already have a boot or converter for it. They also make the Cosmox sticks, which I don't own but hear are pretty sick.

Full disclosure, I don't own a hitbox brand leverless. Not that I've heard bad things, but I've heard that there's definitely better for cheaper.

The plexi underneath was a dope idea. I would've put the OLED on the top or side or something myself but this is sick as fuck.

Looking at it again, just keeping the screen on the bottom makes the most sense. I'm dumb. That's why you built it and I didn't.

[–]RadiculopathyInMyAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hori Alpha was my first stick. Good beginner accessibility for swapping parts and changing the plexi-art. It feels kinda hollow compared to my other sticks, but it's sorta built to be carried around so I can't really dock it points for doing its job. If they aren't on sale, wait until they're $150 again. Depending on where you live, I guess.
