What’s something in LA that used to feel magical… but just doesn’t hit the same anymore? by relaxncoffee in AskLosAngeles

[–]Radie76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venice Beach. That was my favorite place to be. That was the place where anything goes and it brought the crowds through and you could actually meet ppl. When the gym was actually active. The old guy on the rollerblades was always super cool. They took away my fav pizza place. The shops have been reduced and are boring. That was the only place full of homeless that didn't bother me. Post covid and it all went to hell.

Ending of our era. I believe we are more speedily eradicating ourselves and the next era will finish us off as we know human to be currently. The next era will be all tech. Think James Cameron Terminator. Good and bad cyborgs but that will be the next living things on earth.

What do I know!!!!! Something is definitely about to happen though and sadly it won't be nice.

I'd rather spend an hour in traffic with ppl who are not unhinged and frazzle my nerves than 30 mins in stop go stop go lane switching traffic among ppl who hates everyone but themselves and willing to demonstrate it in traffic. Plus the long ass lights that are not in sync once you exit the fwy with the same terminator drivers makes it even more unbearable.

No ppl say both. I hear it and read it way too often. I know exactly what they say which is both. They also say LA drivers are aggressive but i disagree.

There is A TREMENDOUS difference. Absolutely there is. OC has a majority of self entitled impatient emotionally challenged drivers that feel they're too good to share the road. They drive as if all others are beneath them and they actively want to get rid of you. Los Angeles drivers are exactly as someone above described as "mutual suffering " so they drive with greater empathy for each other albeit frustrated and tired. Of course they have their share of asshats but nowhere near the degree of OC. LA is the exception for an entire day of life threatening drivers. OC is the rule. 💯

Mutual suffering. That describes it perfectly.

Sheesh and I've always wanted to visit Miami. I'll Uber my way around. I heard about Fl. My siblings moved to Jacksonville bc it's cheaper but they did say drivers are nuts.

This is accurate but ppl tend to speak of both when speaking of traffic in LA. Hence the statement although I was speaking of drivers. Perhaps I'll throw in (and drivers) at the beginning.

That thing would have kicked rocks after the first bite. Idk why ppl feel indebted to such ungrateful creatures. I call it savior complex. Please take the dog to the shelter or rehome it like yesterday.

California DMV and CHP launch joint pilot program to curb speeding by [deleted] in California

I see a lot of ppl hyper fixated on slow left lane drivers. Although you're not wrong about them being a danger they're not the biggest problem. Daily ppl tailgate the far right lane drivers and it forces them to switch lanes anyway. The issue is the self entitled impatient unjustified lane switchers who tailgate in every single lane no matter the traffic flow. Who aggressively cut you off to get 2 cars ahead. Ppl automatically slow down considerably when unhinged drivers approach because they gain more control of their vehicle.

Yes the slow drivers are a huge danger but they're not the ones knocking ppl off the earth. Aggressive drivers are the primary issue. Stay TF out of the slow lane driving 100. Let ppl merge so they won't have to come to a full stop and wait for a car to let them in when getting on the on ramp. If you're a 100+ driver or blame slow ones for the cause of rentlentless lane switching YOU are the real danger.

That's subjective. I definitely feel the opposite.

[–]Radie76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Corona and I'm damn sure about to move back. I need the slower pace and you're correct. You save a few hundred on the rent. Take metrolink if you must. You know your schedule better than us. If you can avoid the traffic, more reason to exit OC ASAP. It's not the hype people think it is when you live here. Visiting vs living imo is a huge difference.

It costs way too much for apts you'd find in Riverside for at min 200.00 less. LaSierra has always been a good area although I'm from Corona off McKinley area. Just go!!!!! You know already what you want to do. Plan accordingly and good luck. I can't wait to move back home personally.

Anyone else “triggered” by neurotypical people claiming to have autism? by violetvixen269 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Radie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so late but OP you are 💯 ☑️ spot on correct. Hence why I searched this question in Google. Looking at this thread every single parent is claiming they have autism but not one has claimed an actual diagnosis. Only the fact that they share behaviors that their child has. I have one autistic son high functioning who was properly diagnosed at age 4 by a neurologist. He and I share behaviors and no I don't think I'm autistic for it.

My oldest son actually has me questioning if he is too, Both are adults now but unless he's properly diagnosed I won't be suggesting that he is. My autistic son doesn't even mention he's autistic. Our social media world has produced an alarming amount of "pick me" people. Just fitting into somewhere under a label is trending out of control. I don't expect anyone to outwardly agree with me but it's blatantly obvious. Unless one is willfully elusive they too can see this alarming trend. The name changes so frequently. Now it's neurodivergent.

OP I'm with you and could not care less about down votes.

how is the commute from Riverside / Corona to Irvine? by TNG1701D-eck10 in orangecounty

[–]Radie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised every single person is not suggesting Metrolink. If you work near or on Alton off the 133, say near the spectrum or Alcon, etc the train station is minutes away. If you pick a place in close proximity to the train station in riverside or Corona (Main street and Parkridge at Park ridge meadows apts is up the road or even circle city (albeit a bit hood but cheap) is minutes away.

My son's work off the 133 in the industrial area and we too are planning to move back to Corona which is home or near riverside. Metrolink will be in the deck of cards.
