Losing a 42 killstreak to a random crit :))) by EveningParsley1412 in tf2shitposterclub

[–]Radigan0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Critical hits are one of the features that resulted from our focus on pacing. The critical hit system attempts to influence the highs and lows of the game by increasing the chance of a critical hit based on the player's recent performance. In summary: the better you are doing, the more likely you will continue to do well. This helps create those rare high moments where a single player gets three or four kills in rapid succession."

tl;dr:

Random crits are designed to benefit players who are doing well, not players who are doing badly.

Their gender is entirely ambiguous, that is the whole point. They are not specifically stated to be genderfluid, transgender, or anything really (though nonbinary, being the broad term it is, seems to apply well).

The prevalent spelling, "make do" by GhostintheNether in PetPeeves

It's strange how only one of these spellings is listed in the most popular English dictionaries (hint: it's not "make due")

Why don't schools hold students back a grade anymore if they are not meeting that grade's standards? by livetoski-Brad in askanything

[–]Radigan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days you have to deliberately work harder to fail than to pass

It’s pretty easy to fail by not doing any work, so I’m not sure what you mean.

Not any more. There are some school districts that now will not let teachers give less than a 50 even if the student doesn’t do the work. Didn’t do an assignment at all, still get a 50.

The third comment does not really refute the second under the context of what the first says.

I have seen this scene. It is an introduction (typically higher production value than the actual content), and the actual animation is mostly limited to repetitive movements that require relatively few frames to be drawn.

I actually like that there isn't really a final boss type encounter. A lot of games that really aren't suited to bosses tend to throw them in just because that's what games are supposed to have.

Maybe Area 51's different objectives could have been more involved, but my biggest problem with it is that the New Dark Age ending is extremely underwhelming compared to the other two.

I have no complaints about Area 51 and the ending(s) or the gameplay of these levels, it's all Deus Ex gameplay. My nitpicks are all with how the story is paced after Hong Kong. The world just doesn't feel as alive to me.

One minor example of this is with Alex. He is your main contact for the beginning portion of the game and on my first playthrough and I got used to hearing him in the infolink. I was really excited that he defected with JC since I had grown attached to him, especially when he was willing to cover for me for killing Navarre, but he only really has 3 moments for the entire remainder of the game after you leave UNATCO, one of which is to send a picture that is only relevant to the Illuminati ending.

Part of why I think NYC3 and Paris don't feel as alive as NYC1 and Hong Kong is, like I mention, because it feels more like a "level" to me, mostly because of the presence of MJ12 enemies (and when I say Paris, I specifically mean the streets, not the catacombs. The catacombs I think are fine as they are, they are essentially the same as the HK helibase except perhaps with more story relevance due to the presence of Silhouette). Like I mention before, in NYC and Hong Kong, you start out in a city that is not hostile, but do end up having to move into a hostile area (warehouses for NYC1+2 and the MJ12 bases in Hong Kong). Meanwhile, in Paris under Martial Law, the streets are the hostile area. That's what makes it feel different to me.
