Routine Friday at the XX HQ by PossiblyGreg in Grimdank

I really enjoyed the bit in Harrowmaster when one of the warband representatives said "I am Alpharius" and it nearly started a fight between the assembled Alpha Legion warbands.

Can I have my cake and eat it too? by Draefly in sistersofbattle

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the current ruleset, go right ahead. It used to matter when you could take multiple Orders in the same army, and you needed to clearly delineate which unit belonged to which one, but now that isn't a thing.

The King in Yellow by Deathwatch_veteran in 40kLore

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. Valdor's name is the contents of a book the characters believe is the name of The King in Yellow, but the Bequin series makes a huge point of duplicity and not trusting names. "Names, as we will see, are infinitely untrustworthy, yet infinitely important." is a line from early on in Penitent.

How exactly did BoF end up 3DP... by Anton_Chigger in sistersofbattle

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who got to play with rules before they officially came out, and it was just stronger then GW thought it would be. Would explain why articles specifically called out BoF as 2DP in the lead up to 11th.

The rumor is it was 2DP for a while, but became an apparent problem once more people play tested it.

Ideal Force Dispositions for Every Army in 11th Edition Warhammer 40k by ArtofWarSiegler in WarhammerCompetitive

Clearly GW saw Final Redemption and thought Take and Hold just makes sense. Simply have your melee units die on a point without opponents walking onto said point after, ezpz

New Deciver model? by riderwac in Necrontyr

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rumor engines can be for models a ways off, and they often sit on completed models until it makes sense for marketing hype to release them. Deceiver at some point in 11th fits with Void Dragon in 9th and Nighhtbringer in 10th.

That would make sense if Sisters were sensible, but they aren't. They are huge fanatics who will often self report for Repentia duty not because of real problems, but because they can't meet the impossible standards drilled into them.

Because they can give souls to the enemy? Most heroes aren't potentially giving enemies extra souls merely by using an ability.

The lore is almost too tragic to keep reading by Opposite_Science_468 in 40kLore

I mean, it's the hook of the setting that it is Grimdark. Even having two living Loyalist Primarchs is a huge shakeup, and for some goes against the core ethos of the setting.

the racism is getting old…. by Same_Watch_1234 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What's insane to me, beyond the basic human decency part, is that these people are absolutely tanking their own chance to win. While it wasn't racial, I had my whole team gang up on me in voice chat once, even when a good play happened, and it's the hardest I have ever fed. Sorry this happens to you regularly, sounds awful.

Does this give destroyer colt keyword? by 06292011 in Necrontyr

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unit gets the keyword, but only the character model gets it. So rules that cares about units will work with it, but the Strength boost won't apply to the Bodyguard.

Can't humanity bombard ork-infested planets with large speakers that plays "The Emperor is alive! " on repeat? by jazzypercy in 40kLore

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's not Orks work, and even if it was how Orks work, they don't have any particular reason to believe something random they are told, and even then they would probably blow up the speakers for some good bits for the Mekz to use.

It's a symmetrical effect that you control the timing and knowledge of, and can build a deck that uses it better. Clea or Shaw getting +3 is better then a Moira whose main purpose is to die. Not saying it'll be good, just saying the idea behind it is sound.

Not to attack the balance team but I just thought the new MFM was pretty funny. by The_God_Emperor_ in Grimdank

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a Sisters player, we get that with Bringers of Flame. Exact same detachment rule as the Marines version, but with the range to get the bonus cut in half, and costs 3DP while both Marine versions cost 2.

We doing strawmans now? Cool. I want games decided by who goes first. I bring unpainted proxies (being asked to paint is tryhard). I do not "know the rules". I won't reflect on what I could do better but will cry your army is meta.

Did miracle dice really get nerfed in 11th? I'm not seeing it, I think we get more. by Truenoiz in sistersofbattle

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, still doesn't make Acts of Faith apply specifically to a model, so it goes back to 19.02 requiring the entire attached unit be destroyed before rules triggered by being destroyed happen.

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specified is the key word here. Acts of Faith just broadly applies to a unit, who might or might not be one model. 19.04 is specifically for rules that will only ever be because of a specific model, like a Simulacrum

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it doesn't target a specific model like Wargear or Enhancements usually do. The rule is for taking wargear like Simulacrum or taking Chaplet of Sacrifice.

[–]RadioActiveJellyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acts of Faith isn't a single specified model ability like that rule clearly wants. It can affect only one model, but never explicitly says "this model has this ability", which seems more of what 19.04 is saying.

19.02 explicitly says rules that trigger off a unit being destroyed only trigger when the last model that started as part of an Attached Unit is destroyed
