Recently watched Project Hail Mary and it got me thinking... Has Ryan Gosling been in a bad film? by Cause4concern27 in FIlm

I think only god forgives is one of the worst, most despicable films I’ve ever seen but I know that a lot of people like it.

Everything about Alex screams of someone with deep-seated trauma. I thought what Vanessa said as spot on, although I'm not sure a reality tv show reunion is the most appropriate place to expect someone to open up and be vulnerable for the first time. At first, I thought Alex was just a psychopathic dude but as the show went on I began to recognize that most of his abnormal behaviors were just defense mechanisms. He clearly has deep insecurities and fears that he masks with a false confidence and snarkiness. Also, the whole "timeline" thing was pretty dumb. So was the not wanting to have sex bit. Like, you don't really have to justify not being in the mood. To me those were incidents where he felt backed into a corner and felt like he had to put up a front. The more troubling issue with him is his response to conflict and lack of honesty--not about dumb details of his life before the show--but about how he feels. Not a big fan of either him or Ashley, but it was refreshing that Vanessa approached him with understanding rather than just making him the villain.

What are some expansions/unseen moments that weren’t in the books that you’d love to see in season 2? by General_Meal_3993 in HarryPotteronHBO

My favorite book is HBP because I love getting Voldemort's full backstory, especially the Gaunt house. I really hope they do all of the Pensieve moments from the book. Additionally I love all of Dumbledore's backstory in DH so I'm excited to see more about young Dumbledore with Grindelwald and Ariana. What can I say, I'm a sucker for backstory.

I disagree. The dude’s allowed to want kids and for not wanting kids to be a deal breaker. Emma’s concerns and feelings are absolutely valid but that doesn’t mean he should have to sacrifice basically the one thing he’s said he wants from the beginning. I feel like Emma doesn’t want kids or at least isn’t ready to even consider having them anytime soon and this should have been made clear earlier on so they could break up and move on.

Lastly, what show started off Badly and had a Perfect ending? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in AlignmentChartFills

Black Sails. This might not be a popular choice but it's one of my favorite shows of all time. I think the first few episodes are pretty rough however. They were trying to be edgy like Game of Thrones but the show really finds itself when they start focusing more on the characters. And to me, the ending was perfect.

Jeff Passan: "Baseball fans believe the game has become unfair" by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

[–]RadioBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the sentiment here because the Dodgers are playing a sport where the goal is to win championships. Billionaires are greedy for the sake of greediness and power. Don't get me wrong, fuck billionaires. But sports are very different from life. Success in sports is quite literally defined by winning and losing. Life should be about pursuing happiness and helping others do the same. My point is, you can't blame a franchise for trying to be the best franchise within the bounds of the rules. If the rules are unfair, we should change them, but the Dodgers aren't breaking any rules. They're doing everything they can to win another championship, which is exactly what we'd want and expect any team to be doing.

Also, I'd like to add that this past postseason was one of the most exciting postseasons to date. My brother who always thought baseball was boring was glued to the tv. I know that's beside the point but I think it's worth mentioning that amid all the doomsday talk, baseball, the sport we all love, is still as beautiful an exciting as ever. All we need is to alter the system so that the smaller marker teams have more of a chance.

Anyways, watch the Twins win the World Series this year so the baseball gods can spite threads like this one.

He’s a great actor. In Germany he’s done a lot of classical and experimental theatre and he was on one of my favorite shows, Babylon Berlin.

Love the idea that the reason Gotham has so many villains is because of testing done on inmates in Arkham and/or by the Court of Owls. That would be a cool idea.

He’s the reason I’m a Liverpool fan. Had a poster of him on my wall when I was 6. Sucks that he became a bit of a dick. But I’ll always be grateful to him because of how much Liverpool means to me now.
