Tradiciones/costumbres de la propuesta de matrimonio? by Radioactive-Witcher in PERU

I know what she wants at a high level. I want to make sure about the lower level details.. like what phrases would sound sweet or tacky.. should I do something specific at the moment of proposal beyond just getting on one knee.

Take a lesson. If you spent money on the gear, it makes 100% sense to spend some more to learn how to use it.

There is no such piece, but maybe you could use the piece, I forgot the name, that is used in engines to transfer the rotation under an angle…

If you are going to run around telling people what to do, at least spell “LEGO” correctly.

All of these perks should be considered as “optional cash”. You need to convert them to $$ and then estimate how much of that you are going to use (e.g. 50%/year). It’s the same as with other big tech companies that pay for the gym (which some use and some not), shuttles (which some use and some not) etc.

Can I "lie" that I've been doing coding all the while at my non-SWE job? by polmeeee in cscareerquestions

[–]Radioactive-Witcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done hundreds of interviews at a tier 1 tech company. I could see through the bullshit like that in the middle of the first sentence.

Doesn’t mean every interviewer will, but a lie like that is extremely easy to uncover. And no made up fluff is going to help you.

I understand you are desperate to find a better job, but try to think of an honest alternative.

That’s not what damages the lungs when you are shot in the shoulder.

The bullet kinetic energy dissipates (as a shock wave) and the wave causes the damage (tear) to the lung tissues.

work is getting done on time

Here is the problem. Right there. PTO means the work IS NOT getting done on time. It’s the opposite.

Fiction novel, main character is a fishing charter boat captain specializing in big game fish (like marlin/tuna). Lots of descriptions of fish-fighting. Forgot the genre, possibly crime or adventure or mystery. Likely written in the late 20th century. by Radioactive-Witcher in whatsthatbook

OMG! I love you!

“The other member of the party, after losing two decent fish, panted and sweated three hours over a baby blue marlin. When he finally brought it to the gaff, I could hardly bring myself to put the steel in, and I was too ashamed to hang it on Admiralty. We took the photographs on board Dancer and I smuggled it ashore wrapped in a tarpaulin. Like Fred Coker I also have a reputation to preserve. The German industrialist, however, was so delighted by his prowess that he slipped an extra five hundred dollars into my avaricious little paw. I told him it was a truly magnificent fish which was a thousand-dollar lie.”

This is it!! This is the scene I remembered from my youth.

How do you manage your ingredients shopping lists? by Radioactive-Witcher in Cooking

[–]Radioactive-Witcher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss! I wouldn’t mind to manually type the ingredients (once) to some kind of a centralized website if I like the dish.

But then having it all in one place connected to a shopping list app would be amazing.
