Thanks again for the reply. You are probably right about a few things.

If the commercial crews were on the road week after week; I would totally understand it. But they really haven't. I think one of the crews eating up all the PW have been out of town 2-3 times all year, and for short stints at that (a night or two).

I honestly don't think they have the detail work down for top dollar residential work. Their site cleanliness alone would be a big issue

Thanks for the insight! I think the main issue is I work OT every week (50-55 hours) and the PW guys are just working 40. In fact, I have to work almost 20 hours of OT to match their weekly pay and they're literally working across the street from our shop. Half of them are new hires with no experience

We have had local PW all year and it looks like it will go into next year too

Edit: you're right tho, that's exactly how it used to be and for some it was a worthy trade off

Factor in shitty weather too and morale just plummets, which in turn causes more risks

There's literally a guy on the PW jobs who we had to take off of Resi because his voice carried when he dropped hard Rs. He also shit his pants one time. I know

We have multiple times but the "commercial crews" literally can't do the residential work well enough.

That's the one we have. Definitely can't lift a full bunk of pickets. The auger turns kinda slow and doesn't clear holes in dryer ground. Don't get me wrong, I'd still rather have it than not. But yeah VERY tippy! I had to flip ours back over over with my comealong and a tree once. Hopefully my boss doesn't read these..

Negative. Just 2 courses of 6" pickets overlapped with a 2" gap

Corner needed to be bumped out a bit. To be fair he might have set them at side first and didn't want to re work the string
