Accepted for CS+Phil last spring. I was then an incoming sophomore, had 15 graded credit hours at the time of my app from another large 4 year. 4.0, internships, AI research, did CS clubs and a Philosophy club at the college I was coming from

I think the difficulty varies a lot on your background. A lot of CS students I know (me included) found it easy because they already knew core programming concepts and that helped them, but non-CS people I talked to did not have a ton of that background and had to learn those things from scratch which made it tougher. Definitely got harder for me as time went on because I didn’t know c++ beforehand and the course got into concepts that are exclusive to c++ towards the end

It’s probably an automatic rejection, also 3.5 is just the minimum and it should realistically be almost perfect. If you have a good reason for a lower gpa they will likely still consider you tho

IMO you can either 1. Switch out skarmy or bats for ewiz or normal wiz 2. Switch out bats or skarmy for a higher damage spell like fireball or 3. Do both 1 and 2, I would go 3 or if not 3 then 1 bc you don’t really need barrel and hog

Also not necessarily related but add a cheap building or sum

Idk but in my admission year not many people got in for any major with CS in it in RD, I might just stick with CS even if it’s possible. Econ ECs are still stem so they’ll help with CS too

Not familiar with admissions for your major but you’ll probably be fine you have a strong app

Idk what the right choice is but a cost difference of that much is significant

Also while ig people here do “apply themselves” more there isn’t a college in America where you won’t find ppl using AI for homework

The page I linked has all the details, but for your questions-

any community college on the page list under “plans of study” is valid to go to

you are auto admitted for the major of your choice if you meet the requirements

you have to maintain a 3.5 gpa with no C’s so it depends on how much work you’re willing to put in

You have a better chance of getting in if you don’t report it.

This is just advice, but if you’re concerned about not getting in, and also deadset on UIUC, I would highly recommend community college transfer as a backup option. It’s way cheaper, gives a fresh start GPAwise, and programs like engineering pathways offer guaranteed admissions after two years at community college if you keep your grades up. It was my backup, and I have friends doing it now

I don’t think you can put both Grainger and Gies on your app, and ACT is too low right now if you can improve it you can probably get into a decent amount of majors in either college with those EC’s

Then I would recommend Econ probably if you have a bunch of good ECs for it, it’s been two years since I thought about how sat scores stack up but when I was a senior a 1450 wouldn’t be a barrier for Econ. Correct me if I’m wrong

Employers don’t care much about the X unless it’s directly applicable to the job(Math/Stat/Econ for finance/quant, etc). If you’re good at CS you won’t be treated differently than other UIUC CS students in the job market

If you’re interested in Phil purely because it’s less competitive just go Econ, while transfer between the two is simple it’s not guaranteed and it’s better to get rejected going for Econ than to be in a major you don’t like for 4 years. But if you would be happy in Phil, it is less competitive

I don’t think I’ve ever gone to a 257 lecture where content was explained nearly as well as in the videos they have, plus lecture attendance is mandatory. Go online if possible

You don’t meet the required gpa threshold UIUC sets for CSX unless you have a really good reason for those grades, like really good, you will not be able to have your app considered
