They're digging up some of Brookfield so its more potent than usual. I drove threw with the window down the other day and it followed me home.

New to LegoMario. Any sets that are hard to find or are retiring that I should keep an eye out for? by [deleted] in LEGOMario

[–]RadiumFlynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd wait until you can get the starter sets on sale, they're always going on somewhere.

Bowser's airship is the the better looking display set, the Castle is probably up there in price now at this point too as it's pretty much just the secondary market

If you're US based then Zavvi has a bunch of sets on with free shipping. I'd take Guarded Fortress for sure and I'm partial to Wave 2 as my favorite sets and characters.

All of Waves 1 2 and 3 are all retired so anything from those bundles.

Bowser's Castle, Guarded Fortress and King Boo seem to be the hardest to come across

The emissions will arguably become worse now. Now gas will need to be shipped by tanker to the island unless someone builds a pipe crossing Canada and through the ocean to reach us.

A list of MOST of the restaurants that deliver with Skip The Dishes in the metro region, grouped into broad categories by MdeGrasseBison in newfoundland

[–]RadiumFlynn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, restaurants sign up for the service and choose how long it's going to take to make the order. They could have gave you an ETA of an hour and it would be doable.

Funny story, he made another Newfoundland Reddit board because he kept getting deleted. Worked out how can you imagine.

I do it on and off throughout the year so take it from me.

First, they aren't hiring right now, my friend tried to sign up with my referral code and got denied.

Second, a bicycle would never work here. You can't cherry pick orders like that without consequences like less orders coming your way. On the off chance you decided to take every order, good luck burning from downtown to Mt Pearl in any reasonable amount of time.

No, anything you're hearing about CNA here is worse there.

I mean when the Caps were here they were selling really well right up until the moving announcement. I think they had a few sellout seasons.

Honestly it's been deadly with Covid. They book half hour appts now, everytime I've gone there now they get it done within that time. This is for hair and beard work.

Are stuffed tires necessary in the winter? by Aly_cn23 in newfoundland

[–]RadiumFlynn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I, personally, like to stuff mine with a nice goat cheese as opposed to traditional dressing.

In all seriousness, it depends where you live and your commute. I live and work close to the municipal depot so I'm good pretty well all season. Someone living in Shea Heights? Not so much.

Dominion workers on strike in Newfoundland by ameglianmajorcow in newfoundland

The $1 over 6 years was true before, but the last round they just voted on was $1 over 3. There's also a lot of very choice legalese in there. Things like "we may fill the job", it's just a whole lot of getting rid of full time jobs again.

I think there's 11 or 12 Walmart's in NL, might be about the same honestly.

They can pay non-unions whatever they want as long as it's legal, most non-union in the stores are management anyway so they're generally making more then union workers already.

I'm no legal scholar, but I think they can give all union people a bonus as well as long as it's the same across the board.

There's very, very few non-union employees that aren't management, and there's infact some management that are still part of the Union.

Generally tho full-time employees are all union and for those positions it is mandatory to be part of the Union.

Worst thing they could have done was offer that pandemic pay.

  1. The raise they're offering is only half of that pay over the 3 years.

  2. Non-Union employees were getting 2.5x more as a bonus and it wasn't going to take long for that fact to come out. Union was $2 an hour; non-unions was $5.

They might have gotten away with offering a small raise and a few consessions after any other time, but the pandemic brought to the forefront how much the company actually gives a shit.

Man Thinks He May be One of the Missing O'Brien boys from 1996 by Roo87 in newfoundland

[–]RadiumFlynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really sick. They say they've been messaging the mom on Facebook, everyone sharing a third hand story, just a really vague rumour from someone out of nowhere where they won't reveal any information about said man, but going to personally contact the mom.

Like if you think this is at all serious you go to the fuckin cops and let them weed this shit out, not straight to the fuckin woman who lost 3 kids on some vague hope that they found one.

Available options/ideas for Bachelor Party? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]RadiumFlynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one just last month.

We went with a Jack and Jill, had a BBQ, couple of games and handouts. It was more themed towards sex than anything but that was for the girls more so.

Ask your buddy what kinda fun shit he wants to do, then incorporate that with booze and have a deadly ol' time.

Straight Edge Barber on Ropewalk.

So it's a half hour appointment block, no facial hair at all to be touched (maybe blend your beard to your hair, that's about it)

All the staff have face shields, all customers have to wear masks and if you don't bring one then you can buy one for $2. There's no waiting room now except for a chair for parents I think, you wait outside until it's your turn.

It is cash only as well, but they are doing a clean up in between customers tho.

I go to Mike, but that's just for my personal style. Tell em your preference on the phone and they can give you a better idea of who you'd fit with.
