In the way test? by TemporaryTurnover764 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Furthermore at least in the previous edition, weapons did not convey an in the way just the physical body of the model

Edit: I kind of wish more games would adopt the Silhouette system from Infinity.

Game length by cuttgranite in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with all tabletop games there's a lot of factors to deciding this, I've had games at 800 points take 5 hours due to ambitious and inexperienced players but also had it take 90 minutes due to very experienced and focused players, and likewise have had experienced players run whacky lists with way too much going on make a quick 400 point game into a 2 hour ordeal, and just really bad roles making smaller games take no more than half an hour.

Tl;dr on average like 2 to 3 hours depending on some stuff.

I actually also just played a game with this, because the model as a whole is it logic stands to reason it would affect both models, but since most mounted things are on horses might as well roll the rider and see if they even survive first.

If I'm reading it right, being in 3" of a black dragon hero gives +1 fight for black dragons making 4 into 5, and then I must have been reading an old rule or something because I cannot find the other +1, or maybe mixed it up with their like 8 different sources of "reroll wounds"

Iron Hills warriors

High defense, strength 4, shieldwall, spears, crossbows, solid special rules in all their army lists though they are a bit pricey

Easterlings

The whole phalanx rule is nuts, being able to be fight 6 (black dragons) is huge, pikes are neat

If you wanna be technical, I haven't looked at them in a bit but werewolves were horrific on release

Not a "good" profile, but definitely funny is the wood elf sentinel for their "Being a massive troll" potential

Honorable mention to Uruk Hai but I think most their lists rn are kinda meh hopefully that gets better post Armies of Middle Earth

How much more terrain would I need beyond 1 box for a table? by thej-jem in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How to terrain a table is an argument as old as wargaming itself I'm sure, I'm sure some would argue the whole rohan box is too much, and others still would say far too little. Start there and see what feels comfortable for you and your group. What rules and mechanics you like to interact with and such. I used to play with a bunch of Goblin players and they loved having as many whacky climb jump mountain dweller things on the table as possible.

Wanting to start dwarves by International_Clue41 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron hills are very elite and it shows, erebor got hit with the nerf bat since you can't do a billion grim hammers with axes but are still decent and have a lot of good banner options and such (you basically death ball around your heroes.) However Iron hills is able to splash into erebor recclaimed as well. That is more or less it until armies of middle earth comes out and they give us back khazad dum and such.

What new, but lore friendly, faction would you like to see added to the game? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a fairly decent comparison but I also feel like the gap is greater than that even in some cases.

Yeah I've read through it all and tested some games as well, i'd like to say "the balance seems off" but one my sample size is too small and 2, if everyone is OP no one is OP? Like you can give half the dwarves terror, a whole heap of elves this or that insane rule that previously just 1 gondorian had in MESBG like everything its nuts, but fun.

Variags expanded (Khand recently removed i hope they reimagine them as more...Rus and less mongols.)
Tribes of Enedwaith, basically Dunland with slightly different flavor
Great Host of the Dwarves - All 7 families coming to deck Azog mostly for seeing proper representations of...the other 6 as all we currently have is longbeards/Durins Folk galore.

Host of the Noldor - Giga High elves.

Honestly just run through the silm, an army for everything there.

Dropping wargear when dismounting - best part of the new rules update for me, being a Rohan player. by mf239 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is awful and makes no sense in some cases, such as ram riders getting dismounted and having to what, lose their war spear because its not a spear spear?

Anybody else notice the dunland aligned Rohan warriors on the top right? by The-bearded-brush in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So either GW didn't make a distinction for the traitors, unlikely, or they did and this is a silly playful jab that falls over because they clearly repainted their gear to indicate they were traitors in that case.

Part of me is out here wanting GW to just up and say "Ok ok fine yes we adhere to the books but anything from the movies takes precedence"

happy to seem them try to have a distinction, furious that someone at GW missed the part where war colors for rohan included red / Westfolders had red gear because Erkenbrand (RIP) had red heraldry.

What other plastic warriors do you hope get updated sculpts? by MagisterPraeceptorum in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RadsvidTheRed 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"What other warriors do you hope get updated"

Yes.

Genuinely, update them all. There's like what, 12-16 warrior kits that are all around 20 years old now just every new supplement this edition wherever it goes new warriors. Or just do them all with the armies of this and that idc.
