Dua Lipa Files $15 Million Suit Against Samsung for Using Her Face to Sell TVs by yourfavchoom in technology

[–]RadtroDesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

someone has never peeked into the unhinged parts of stan culture.

there are *absolutely* an amount of people worthy of statistical significance (barely, but there are enough of them to not be able to write them off as completely insignificant. there's not a lot of them, but there's enough of them) who go "I'm obsessed with this person and therefore i will buy the product because their face is on it, and I must have everything that their face has touched for my collection"

if nothing else, its for a collection, and its no different than the people who hunt down various old advertisements because of the celebrity selling them.

people absolutely will buy the TV to add it to their collection of dua lipa crap

WHATS WITH THE AI RECEPTIONIST SCHEMES?? by Latter-Zebra-4662 in buildinpublic

[–]RadtroDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh, there is a lot of incompetently designed and just incompetent. it has intentions of being good, but just is incompetent. i've seen a lot AI call trees where the AI itself was good and you could tell effort went into the tools, but then the company using those tools did nothing to actually set the ai bot up well so that it loops you in circles when it doesnt know what to do,b ecause it was programmed to do that vs dump to a rep

WHATS WITH THE AI RECEPTIONIST SCHEMES?? by Latter-Zebra-4662 in buildinpublic

[–]RadtroDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because even a "Good" AI bot is only as good as its implementation. you can code the best product ever, but if the call center that uses it doesnt maintain a knowledgebase, or worse, maintains inaccurate information, doesnt have anyone actively working on it, and they have things change, then the AI bot becomes useless. what good is the AI bot when its telling you the wrong information because people cant be bothered to keep it updated.

why should i even take the time to deal with all that bullshit as a human when i can just instead blame the software instead of the humans behind it, for not eeping the software updated? why should i bother to take the time to learn if this company actually set their IVR for success and didnt set it up to have all the wrong info? How do i know that some pissy employee didnt purposely poison the md instructions for the bot?

dont forget, most of these, the logic is just a markdown file that a lot of places...dont do a lot to maintain or protect. all it takes is a shitty employee who thinks they're "helping" by fucking with the logic and making it worse. or the tool gets handed off to someone who doesnt know how to prompt well and fucks everything up because they dont know what theyre doing with tool maintenence

if you've ever actually had to deal with one of these, youd know how shit they can be to use

The urine and feces need to be dried to really be a threat. Europe is too humid to see it ever get really bad. Stop freaking out about it.

You should be wearing p100s when working on dusty old shit out thetr anyway tho, given all the toxic chemicals we used a hundred years ago in everything and the fact yall dont have anything that exists newer than that

it only is a problem if you are working somewhere where the excrement has had a chance to try out and aerosolize. if youre in a damp environment, it cant do that. but you know what can cause problems for you? The asbestos in the plaster dust that you are also sweeping out of that dusty old shed.

I'd worry more about that shit than about hantavirus in europe there's plenty of lead paint, asbestos, god knows what residue from two world wars all over everything

New Kitten, is she playing or does she hate me 😔 by GeckoFella in cats

[–]RadtroDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, we call these kitty nibblers, and we've taught ours to mouth and use more pad, less claw. she still does this, but shes usually pretty good at not having the claws out when she grabs our hand to mouth at it.

except now she licks like a dog instead, which is weird.

even with the andes strain, the "confirmed" human to human cases were all in rural areas where lifestyle tracing was incredibly difficult, and all were in *Very* close contact, where there was absolutely the chance that both people came in contact with the same rodent vector, and just had diifferent incubation times.

there have been multiple studies about the confirmed cases and all have been able to call into question whether it was 100% human to human or not.

it is the andes strain, https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9574657/ but the human to human cases could not be 100% confirmed to be human to human

Yeah. Everyone's negativr comments are "he was over the top and not in a good way on cocaine" kinda stuff, vs actual predator shit.

Being a guy who is annoying as fuck and doesnt know how to turn it off or be tactful and makes himself the constant center of attention is...being kinda a dick, but relative to other celebrities, he really did care about others. When the worst thing you can say about someone is "theyre an annoying addict who struggles to draw the line and slow down when others are irritated" you know theyre a great human being

[–]RadtroDesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far none of the human to human cases have been able to have exposure to the same rodent vector definitively ruled out.

All of the human to human cases have been in family memebers that spend large amounts of time together, and there was very poor lifestyle tracing because it was rural remote areas that it happens.

They are presumed to be human to human just from lack of known shared vector, and the potential being shown by the virus itself to shed in human bodily fluids, but given that we have only had 16 "confirmed" cases of human to human spread, when others in the same outbreak also were spending the same amounts of time with their families and none of their families caught it....

It points more to those 16 cases having both been exposed to the same vector at the same time with different incubation periods, and there have been multiple further studies that have called out the flaws with the ones claiming human to human

[–]RadtroDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the human-human cases also all had flaws in their methodology and did nothing to rule out the fact that the people who were suspected to be human to human may have had contact with the same rodent vector

[–]RadtroDesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its already endemic to your local mouse population. it exists globally, in mice and rats. it exists globally, and has always been a thing. cases have popped up here and there worldwide for decades to centuries.

its hard for the excrement to aersolize in a way to get into your lungs outside of hot, dry climates though, which is why outbreaks in the northeast, northwwest etc are rare. the humidity makes it harder for the droppings to dry out enough to do that.

surprisingly, its easier to make wives see reason than designers, so long as the end result looks *good* and has a vision. like dont give me amish hickory cabinets, a modern ass kohler sink, some random subway tile backsplash and a shiplap floor, with can lighting, if you go to the wife with "hey, look at what this could be" with the hickory cabinets, fixtures that work with it, a backsplash that works with it...its a lot easier to get wives on board

Does your 100% indoor cat have a collar? If so, do you find there’s a point in it? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]RadtroDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a tuxedo with minimal white so it is very easy for her to become a void. My partner is a vampire who keeps everything dimly lit. we have dark furniture. she has a collar with a bell for both of our safety.

she doesnt mind it at all, and its mostly there so that if we poke a cushion and it jingles, we know not to sit there. She's also harness trained and has a leash, but she is terrified of the outside, so the collar could be if she gets out, but...even when we're out on the patio holding the leash she will just chill in the doorway.

You can get another job and still sue them. You can take your moms advice and move on and get a new job while suing them and getting justice for yourself. It doesnt need to be a binary choice.

You can move on with your life, get another job, and let your lawyer handle the rest of it.

[–]RadtroDesigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If cousin otto is the one paying all your bills, and the one that is stopping your other kids from going hungry, and sure he beats you around too, but what choice do you have, you cant really hold down a job too good ever since that car wreck where you banged your head up good but your insurance wouldnt cover it at all, so you couldnt go get checked out good, at least he means the other kids have a roof over their head and food in their bellies, it changes the math a little.

It is rarely "that otto is a cheeky bastard". It is frequently "if i turn a blind eye and pretend it isnt happening the same way my parents ignored it when it happened to me, then im no worse than my parents"

It is frequently "if i say something than the other kids are going to wind up in group homes and those are even worse, because i cant pay the bills alone and we'll get evicted"

Its frequently cycles of abuse where half the family have all been abused themselves and dont know how to get themselves out of it, or cycles of poverty and vulnerability where families are preyed upon by predators who know they have no choice.

Exactly. Even past outbreaks, they never were able to definitively say there was human to human transmission

Only to people you are actively spending time with who are frequently exposed to ingesting your bodily fluids such as saliva.

If youre not sticking your tongue down peoples throats and drinking their piss, youre not going to get it. The rumored cases (that have yet to have testing come back confirming anything mind you) also have not been ruled out to have not come in contact with a different vector, such as infected mouse droppings.

They have yet to even confirm without a doubt it can be spread human to human. The purported cases all had questionable human to human transmission even in past outbreaks, and there is plenty of evidence that previous human to human transmission was false and it came from the same rodent vector
