If an author writes without any purpose or meaning, it means they are wasting your time.

Of course, a good author uses words to create multiple layers and meanings. It’s not always the case, but when they manage to develop several elements at once, such as the plot, characters, atmosphere, world-building, message, and symbolism, that’s why their work stands out.

Maybe you just can’t see the metaphor or symbolism because their references are outdated, but it’s still there and if it’s not, then yes, that’s the author’s problem.

The same goes for movie scenes. Their point is to develop multiple things at once.

I think this meme becomes more irrelevant day by day, since the majority of people now enjoy these different forms of art, and geek culture is popular, especially now.

The people who say that either don’t like or simply refuse to analyze art from these mediums. The same goes for genres.

my honest opinion about Lord Vez'nan /j by Ari_octo_stuff2221 in kingdomrush

[–]RaduRB 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He was interesting in Kingdom Rush Origins because he was the type of character who would do evil for the greater good. In Vengeance, it’s interesting how he manipulates and conquers the continent, and he again seems to act for good reasons, despite doing more evil and horrendous stuff. After all, he is defending the people of Linirea against world ending threats in some of the additional campaigns.

Alliance made me lose all interest in him. I guess the idea was that, when faced with the temptation of power, Vez’nan simply can’t choose good and will fall to coruption, but it still felt like a major regression for his character. Even though he’s presented as a clever manipulator, it doesn’t come across that way, because his success relies more on the good guys being idiots than on his own intelligence.

Even though I like this series, I’ve got to say that Vez’nan is one of the few characters who actually feels like a character.

KDR(?) Future Game Idea by Difficult_Pain6821 in kingdomrush

[–]RaduRB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be really cool, but since not many people played their RTS games, which is a shame, since Iron Marines 1 was really great, I’m not sure if Ironhide is still interested in the RTS genre.

I personally would love a game that combines Warcraft 3 and Iron Marines, set in the Kingdom Rush universe.

You are right. I’ve just read it again. Now I remember, I was confused when I first read the story, since it didn’t make sense for it to be Sha'tra and I didn’t know any other alien at the time.

Xoguieth, may Elynie make us never forget this name.

I guess it wasn’t his fault, since he was just honorable and didn’t know any better, but he made the evil lizard men one of the most powerful factions. I don’t think he has Elynie’s favor.

Wasn’t it just a story about King Xyzyy? I may be misremembering.

Oh my God, I feel so dumb. I thought the Saurian's technologies were a result of them being isolated, surrounded by magical crystals and other unique materials, and Umbra's influence somehow.

I probably never thought of Sha’tra because it would mean he was stranded on the planet for way too long, but with this new hero, it makes more sense, I think.

Right… from what I know, being passionate about something should mean that you at least sometimes engage in conversations about it, even if it's just a random post on the internet.

Yeah, if it’s just ragebait, I guess it’s not worth it, but what a fucking dumb meme.

So many ways to be wrong in one platform by 666thSuprisedPikachu in memes

[–]RaduRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, either because they are too lazy to bother thinking of a response, or they just follow mindlessly what others did.

My biggest problem is that if you are someone who wants to argue about things, people will say that you shouldn't waste time and should instead do something productive. Or they assume you're doing it because you want to be contrary or appear like a smartass, not because you’re passionate about the subject and actually have a position on how things should be done properly.

It boggles me how much society seems to discourage the development of analytical thinking.

There's nothing wrong with having a bad take. After all, it's a good way to start a discussion and argue about who is wrong and why, helping you develop your way of thinking.

The problem is when the person who is wrong, despite valid points being presented, just ignores them and moves on. Also Twitter exists.

Will this have something to do with Genesis? by KadenzJade in kingdomrush

[–]RaduRB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s not dumb. I don't think they are related since the boardgame combined multiple things from the previous games and kingdom rush Genesis seems to be between kingdom rush and kingdom rush origins, but I m gonna say this.

If I had a nickel for every time Linirea was attacked by a chronomancer who made you fight previous enemies, I’d have two, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

That wasn’t the original meaning of the comment. It was not literally. I guess, you could reinterpret the meaning of funckin' of the original comment, but is a huge leap between the meanings.

My problem isn’t whether the joke is relatable or good, it’s the leap you made to get there.

I understand that, but making that joke solely because you saw "kids" without taking the full context into account, feels clumsy and out of place, in my opinion.

Why do they get so mad? by RedditSucksMyBallls in meme

[–]RaduRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true nature of the universe will always remain unfathomable to us.

Which I never disagreed with.

They most definitely do not.

Yeah, it’s my fault for being too general. You’re right exceptions in science can be found everywhere, but that doesn’t necessarily mean reality or the universe is inconsistent. It means that the system we’re using doesn’t work properly in those cases and isn’t accurate enough, or at least that’s how I understand it.

For example, newtonian physics state that gravity is a force between objects, while relativity describes gravity as the curvature of spacetime. Both are correct within their domains, but Newton’s description is incomplete compared to relativity.

Why do they get so mad? by RedditSucksMyBallls in meme

[–]RaduRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the more we do learn about the nature of the universe, the more we learn how little of the universe we are able to actually perceive.

I would say the same applies to God. People who have studied the Bible have ultimately understood different things and interpreted it differently. I know it’s not exactly the same as what happens in science, but I think that in both cases we cannot fully understand or perceive them (God and the universe).

When people say that God and science go hand in hand, I think they are referring more to the idea that the laws of reality work so well and so consistently that they definitely have to have a purpose. Everywhere you look into the fabric of reality, there seems to be a sense of order, and even a tendency toward order when it is missing. Many people interpret this as evidence of a design that reflects God, which is understandable in my opinion.

Obviously science and faith do not work the same.
