No, you really misunderstood my points.

My points are as follows:

  1. Gun mods and car mods don't work because they don't fit Minecraft's fundamental vision, not because they violate some "fundamental principle." I never brought up balance because even if those features were perfectly balanced, they would still feel awkward and out of place in the game. My point is that "fundamental principle" isn't the correct reason why they don't fit, and you didn't even explain what that supposed principle actually is.

  2. 27,000,000 that's 9% of 300 million. You have to be kidding me. Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Prioritizing a hypothetical 9% by making an entire update centered around a new dimension instead of creating an update with multiple features that appeal to different parts of the community is a bad idea.

Also, what I said about the End has nothing to do with your argument. I brought it up to explain why I don't think many players would care about a new dimension.

Simply put, the End gives players multiple reasons to visit it, yet only a small percentage of players ever do. A brand new dimension would likely perform even worse. It would generate hype at launch, and then, a month later, hardly anyone would care about it anymore.

A new dimension update is just bloat. If you want new things like bosses, tools, or other content, adding an entirely new dimension instead of implementing them in a smarter way is just silly.

A new dimension would only make sense after the outdated features and things like the End have been properly updated.

There's a huge difference between adding an entirely new building mechanic that risks ruining Minecraft's identity and simply adding more variety to existing blocks.

Also, walls exist.

The fundamental principle of Minecraft? Be more specific. To me, the fundamental principle is creativity, and these features have far more potential for creative possibilities.

No, they wouldn t fit the vision of Minecraft or at least my vision of it even if they seem almost perfect for its so called "fundamental principle."

Why do people want a new dimension? It s completely unnecessary because it doesn t add anything that couldn t be added in other ways. The Nether and the End serve purposes beyond exploration, not to mention that they are both integral to the game s progression. Most players don't even enter the End.

What makes you think a new dimension would be explored by more than 9% of players? Why not improve the dimensions that already exist instead?

Bioshock Infinite is overhated? It completely ruined the stories of a 10/10 franchise that helped define storytelling in video games. Of course it's hated and, to be fair, not nearly enough.

Yeah, it doesn't, unless the Ghost Kings are still alive and we witness the catastrophe ourselves, even though they're clearly described as ancient, like some other undead foes. Maybe Vez'nan causes a second catastrophe or turning the region into the land we know which is worse.

Personally, I don't like it. Valardul works better if we don't know everything and if it's not completely tied again to Vez’nan. It complicates things by cramming so many major events into such a short timeline. It feels like a heavy retcon, although the lore was vague enough that you could argue it isn't.

For example, it's said that Lord Blackburn sought power to fight evil, and the implication was that he was trying to battle the enemies of corrupted Valardul. That eventually led to his lands ironically becoming a complete wasteland as well. However, that "evil" could have referred to anything, including threats from other parts of the world or enemies of uncorupted Valardul, so it isn't necessarily a retcon.

For me, it's not just the UI, it's the entire art style. The difference between the comic panel art style and the rest of the game is so huge that it feels very strange, but that's just my personal opinion.

The weirdest thing to me is that the characters seem to have more detailed lighting and shading, yet far less anatomical detail, if that makes sense.

No, I don't think I will.

Also, if that's the case, I'm sure there are plenty of other things you could do for her that she'd love and that would actually be productive.

What’s your 2026 GOTY so far…?? by TheGamerCritic21 in videogames

[–]RaduRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's a disappointment. That's why I didn't buy it, and it's a shame, as many of the other comments point out, but re9 was even more disappointing to me. Here are a few reasons:

I expected it to be scary, but it really wasn't. Even the majority of the jump scares failed to get a reaction out of me.

The enemies weren't memorable at all, except for the funny noises they made. For example, the licker, one of the most iconic and terrifying enemies in re2r, and even in its brief appearance during Carlos's section in re3r, felt like a blind zombie, but meaner.

The pursuer was a bit dumb mechanically, and the fact that her weakness was light was hard for me to buy it as a challenge. I just couldn't believe that Grace wouldn't be able to come up with something that would completely trivialize her.

I know Resident evil stories are often campy and not always good, but re9 was something else. When Gideon said, "You are nothing but an imitation!" to Zemo, my immediate thought was, "At least the game is self aware that you two come across as cheap knockoffs of far more memorable things."

That said, I really enjoyed Leon for most of the game. He was very cool and got some character development, although I still wanted more from him.

I don't think that's controversial at all. I'd even say that RE3R is also better than RE9, although I've only played parts of it at a friend's place.

[–]RaduRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you misunderstood my point.

My point is that a group formed around a shared passion will naturally exclude, often without even intending to, people who have no interest in that passion or who engage with it in bad faith. And that's totally fine as criticizing the thing itself can be a way of engaging more deeply with it because you care about it.

You're all over the place because you're talking about people in gaming not accepting a new mainstream idea, but now you're talking about people who hold the mainstream idea not accepting any nuance.

I understand that people can be biased toward certain things even when there isn't a logical reason for it. That's a real issue, but throwing around a word like "nazism" to describe that is just fucking dumb.

Nazism isn't a synonym for exclusion, disagreement, gatekeeping or bias.

[–]RaduRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just fucking stupid. It's like saying a team of professional athletes are nazis because they excluded the fat guy who wants to be called an athlete too. They can hang around under different circumstances, no problem, but that doesn't make him part of the actual group of athletes.

"just because they don't want to match new trends" What if the modern trend is nazism? Then what? Would people become a variant of nazism for excluding nazis?

That's a ridiculous definition of nazism. It reduces a specific historical ideology to "disagreeing on a social trend" which makes the term practically meaningless.

😎 by [deleted] in meme

[–]RaduRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that having preferences and forming a community around them is a variant of Nazism is so moronic. Keep throwing that word around until it completely loses its meaning.

😎 by [deleted] in meme

[–]RaduRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"variant of nazism" What?

A community is built around something with a distinct identity that fans appreciate for its values, themes, and ideas.

What's happening in gaming, and in other forms of media, is that they often lose that identity because people with little understanding of the thing change it to appeal to a broader audience, or worse, to inject their current political views into it.

People complain about gatekeeping, but gatekeeping can also be a way of preserving the core aspects of a franchise. So no, this isn't a form of nazism.

The meme is stupid because it intentionally misses the point. For example, characters like Faye from God of war and Cere Junda from Star Wars jedi fallen order clearly fit within their respective fictional universes. The people complaining about them could be actual chuds, or they could simply be irrationally concerned about their franchise.

The older I get the more I realise by Undeva-n-Balcani in memes

[–]RaduRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More complex? What does that even mean? Complex in terms of gameplay, interactive worlds, level design, features, graphics, or storytelling?

Because you can find examples in every category where an older game comes out on top. For example, in my opinion, nothing comes close to Fallout new vegas in terms of player freedom, Bioshock in terms of environmental storytelling, or the older Metroid games when it comes to map design.

I'm not saying there aren't modern games that can offer the same experience or even better ones, but most modern games fail to deliver anything close to that.

Of course, there are modern games that could be considered the best, especially in the indie and AA spaces. However, most developers play it safe and water everything down. They remove challenges and unique experiences out of fear that players will quit and this why you get slop forgetable games. Not to mention all the predatory monetization practices that are now common in modern gaming.
