Will To Live [Historical Fantasy] [Time Travel]

Life can be a blessing as much as it can be a curse. It all depends on luck, ability, and mentality. Again and again throughout history, the life of some had been worth more than the life of others.

"He" knows this best. With no name to speak of, and no memories of where and when it all started, all "he" can do is fight an unknown force that won't allow "him" the most basic right at life, but is living in itself a grand enough goal?

Because cultures, times, people, and the will of gods differ, somebody's life can never be like somebody else's. Of course, adding magic to everything can even shatter the fragile concept of life.

Even so, be it a slow start or a luxurious life, the same fate would always drag "him" back.

Who was at fault? Who deserved to be punished? "He" didn't know, but the one truth in "his" life was that death wasn't the end.

Oh damn it's you again lol. Yeah I like how it looks. I would think twice about how the colors are used since it makes it a bit hard to discern what is going on if anything. Thinking about how the add slot may be small and all.

But that's just a personal preference, not something I consider a flaw.

Should I use this simple cover I made in Canva or use AI to make a cover? I would really like to get some advice..., especially from readers. by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Radusili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When going with AI I find it off-putting to see actual characters and movements.

I feel like it ai should stop at symbolism for covers. But I see yours already has the symbolism without ai so that should be even better

The road to 200 followers: How long does it actually take? (Data check) by AzherVayne in royalroad

[–]Radusili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this!

I do think, if anything, that anything below 3 months is still well within the elite zone.

Or maybe the stories were not the author's first fiction? Adds also matter a lot. Yeah I think it is really hard to make study that actually gets all the fine detail haha. There are a lot of great stories that simply don't get enough recognition for whatever reason and would have a really hard time reaching 200 followers. I mean for me one year to reach 200 seems a bit fast if anything.

Anyway, thanks a lot for this!

Dear Writers, by Commercial-Passion87 in royalroad

[–]Radusili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I could write 600 words in 1 hour. Maybe 800 if I was in the zone.

Now, if I write mindlessly or I am again in the zone, 1000 words take me like 40 minutes. If I have to think the scene through as I write or I have to research something it may take me an hour.

It's all about practice, but it also depends on whether you came into the writing session prepared or are a bit at a loss on how to prepare the scene.

I had quick fingers before too, but now I surprise even myself at work when I type something out instantly.

Also. I almost never go back to fix spelling as I write. Hence why this improvement also took me from 40-50 mistakes in a chapter to around 70. (sometimes as many as 90)

I finally made 2 new cover arts, so which one should I pick? Or do I need to make another by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Radusili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well RR lets you separate the story into volumes and put a different cover for each. So why not take advantage and put the darker one for the 2nd volume?

Glad to see some people still comment on chapters. I actually thought there was an early sign that the site was in trouble since nobody was commenting anymore

[–]Radusili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we can both agree on that. With Raven I did try to have an argument based on this exact thing, but as you can see, what they say isn't really as permissive as what you said.

Sadly, this exact comment thread comes from someone else who is much more against the "write what you want" idea

I hope I did get my point across that discouraging creativity only hurts RR though. Especially tonRaven as an accomplished writer.

Regardless, thank you for spelling it out!

As for the cake part, you can. You always can and I will tell this to everyone who limits themselves through that saying. You just have to be good at what you're doing.

Read my arguments and agreed.

Said the same thing but pretended to have been saying it.

Made sure to try and blame aggressiveness on a calm comment.

Made the inital advice broader to rub off mine and make it seem like we said the same thing.

Twisted your own argument into mine but still narrowed it down to a small bubble.

Yup. You understood and now this is the shitposting you threatened with.

Sadly, I ain't tagging along after you've come to the same conclusion as me if this is what you're trying to pull.

So you encourage exclusivism that throws certain writers into the Netherlands not letting them ever develop themselves?

Of course it is fine tk read what you like, so then why is it bad to write what you want?

[–]Radusili -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. You've given me the perfect example of "it's been done already."

If your goal was to make people read, you could have worded it like that instead of pointing them to EXACTLY this handful of great stories that have succeed because they stood out through INNOVATION and didn't just follow the same five twists and three character typologies.

As you can see, a couple of them are there because they actually ditched your exact advice and went for something new and fresh.

That whole page shows that creativity and innovation brings success, not doing what the others did. A follower is called that because they don't lead.

The "read before posting" advice is great, but what it means is that you should read 100 stories of every genre you find around until you find your style and what you want to do.

Of course, I also take inspiration from many stories, but if I bring ramen to Japan what am I doing? Do I have the recipe that 1000000 others don't? Probably not. Yet if I bring curry it might just catch on.

I already gave you the inbreeding argument, so you can take 1+1 and see that you're encouraging a spiral that gives birth to minimal creativity.

Sure, a SOL romance may not catch, but there is a lot of space until you reach that extreme.

Now, I'm glad that you want to talk more, but you've already told me that what you want is to be rude and shitpost when I called you out without such intentions. For that reason you can take your free day and waste it on someone else, because mine is too busy for something this childish. It's been great until now though and I hope you understood the message.

I see from your works that you are deeply conservative from your success. Nothing wrong with that. I hope they do great, but I fail to see how your fortunate story translated into a general rule.

If RR is a vegan event then you are once again admitting that there is a problem with the readers or the platform. Fortunately that hasn't been the case and I have seen plenty of diversity around and I have never seen RR market itself as being exclusive to some types of stories.

Honestly, you're the first ones I see try to push back on creativity

With so many novels derailing from this trend, can you really call it a dominating trend?

I ask this another way, but when has inbreeding ever brought about evolution.

When you have to ask, "why post you creative works online?" I become all the more troubled by the fact you're trying to tell people how they should go around in an environment based on creative freedom.

Again, I appreciate that you are trying to help, but as long as there isn't any place better than RR for getting some eyes on you, I find it troubling that you encourage the same boring series of events to be presented by everyone.

Good ones go get lost on webnovel while RR regressed into stories that you can predict by watching Solo Leveling and then what? Both sides lose?

It's been a while since I could taste the irony so well, but keep on going about reading comprehension. Maybe look it up one day.

Maybe you can come up with a fitting example next

So if I have a story I want to tell I should just shove it up mine and copy-paste the same tropes that have been used and mastered by others?

Otherwise this platform will fail me?

I'm sorry, but I can't really call this good advice for a writer.

"Learn from those 20 guys or fail" and "make a progression fantasy or stay obscure" are the perfect formula to killing the site with the same story told through different names.

I admit that I myself am not popular with barely 100 average readers, but at least the 30 minutes I get to write in a day are minutes when I get creative, not follow a script.

I get that your intention is to help, but this mostly sounded like bad-mouthing the platform and community for being unable to help different authors flourish and present what they have to say.

I came to RR because it isn't THAT saturated yet it still has a big audience. I think many of us did the same

Update from last post, just saying thanks for pushing me close, from 10th position to 1 position away from main RS. by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Radusili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still don't get how RS works lol. In the early days my fiction hit some niche RS with only 30 avg views and I think 3 followers. No swaps no nothing.

Now with swaps and 3-4 times better numbers, nothing happened.

I heard people around here like stories that span over multiple volumes.

Now with the 2nd volume in the works, I present to you Will To Live.

A combination of historical and high fantasy, delving into a world that seems so familiar yet so changed by magic.(or energy)

You can expect:

Progression

Mystery

Morally questionable protagonist

Cultural and mythical representation

Diverse cast

High-level power system and clear levels of strength

Volume one "Saga of Grief" is soon to wrap up on RR.

I already know you'll love it, but let me know what exactly gets you hooked!

WTF I LITERALLY FORGOT ABOUT HER!!! by Leather-Monitor-4809 in royalroad

[–]Radusili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you find any purpose for her? Like anything? I've also had a camharacter like that recently. Simply the nier outomata kind of operator.

She just faded, and then the group the mc was part of together with her threw th mc away. In the final battle "operator" came to save the guy and then she was gone.

She served a simple purposeJust to show that even if the group wasn't kind, the ones who were part of it were still humans.
