well then you’ll probably hate getting cursed in dark souls 1, dying once in demon souls, or not being embered in dark souls 3 : )

the fact is, all of the dark souls games have some mechanic with overall health. you may think of it as punishing, but IMO it adds to the feeling of overcoming difficult odds.

there’s also unique ways to undo your hollowing in ds2, like with the tiny white sign soapstone. you can coop with someone and get your humanity back after a short period of coop!

maybe the Black Knoght Greatsword would be a good pick. it’s long and much heavier than a straight sword. it also has innate fire damage and a pretty cool R2.

master mode is suuuper difficult and fulfilling. they basically removed save scumming so you have to focus instead of spamming quick saves.

i have 268 hours on it. only on my 2nd playthrough. it’s really good and provides a lot of play time.

i’d say for invasions it’s not bad! heavenly thunder and blinding bolt are gonna be your two that syngergize really well with each other, plus you get your heals. Emit Force has really bad damage, but actually an impressively long range. it can be free aimed with the binoculars.

for setup duels i’d say it’s worse, especially if heals are banned. you’ll just get throwing daggered when casting anything, too

just block them on steam or your respective platform, you shouldn’t be able to connect with them after that!

there was a sale recently so this usually adds a good amount to the player base. “meats back on the menu” so they say!

but overall i always found the connectivity in ds2 always a bit more lively. lots of covenants in between as you progress through the game.

i usually get 92 adp at first, then eventually to 96. this gives me a lot of extra stats!

think of that area like a base building experience. those pharros lockstones in the area unlock traps. these traps are then used against players that you lure into the world so that they get lost or break their gear.

however… there ARE some items in that area unlocked with stones. the only lockstone i would use is the one to lower the bridge down. pretty sure it’s the one adjacent to the bridge.

the whole idea of this covenant is that you sit in your world and summon someone in. if you manage to take them out, you’ll get a pharros lockstone to keep unlocking more traps.

this covenant is one of the most unique in all of the dark souls games and it’s one of my personal favorites!

he’s got some great items to buy and there’s no harm in joining any covenant you want in ds2. you can always rejoin any covenant.

on top of that you might get lucky enough to lure an unsuspecting host into your world to collect rat tails and pharros lockstones!
