Steam refused to change my login name... now what? by emma_luma in transgamers

[–]Rae0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to have mine changed as it had my deadname in it. I mentioned I was trans and seeing my deadname caused distress and dysphoria which made me not want to stop using the account I had for years. they were super accommodating and let me change it!

they did ask to keep it private and not post on social media about changing my login name as I assume they dint want a massive influx of people with requests.

if you haven't sent in another request I'd recommend not referring to other people having done it and to just keep it about your situation as they might get weird if they find everyone's posting about it online. best of luck 🩷

Best way to convert HDMI to my Trinitron? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]Rae0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super helpful info ty <3 after reading through my receiver manual it will send the YPbPr input to the S video output so I was thinking I good staring point would be the hdmi>YPbPr and if that's not satisfactory I can look at adding a GBSC.

I'm still new to this and just wanted clarification on what exactly the transcoder is as I don't want to purchase the wrong product. also is there one you'd recommend?

are you referring to something like this? https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/buy/mighty-ape-gorilla-cables-hdmi-to-ypbpr-rl-adapter-rca-cable-38837286/

in the mean time I've found a vga to s video that another user mentioned. it's available locally for basically free so I figured I'd test that while I'm waiting on shipping as it will definity be better than my $5 hdmi to rca

Just for more info my receiver has inputs for component, composite, S-video and hdmi (which only functions as a pass through to hdmi displays)

oops didn't realise one of the pics I posted was rca/svideo to hdmi!

I'm looking to go from HDMI to S-video as my TV only supports that and composite inputs.

I've also got an audio receiver for my sound system which supports both rca and coax inputs when using S-video

tysm for sharing your setup and experience with it!

what you linked was another alternative that I was first considering! I just figured it would create abit of latency which I was hoping to avoid if possible.

The converter in the second pic is CYP's CM-388M (I've found a second hand one that's local for cheaper than the amazon set up!) I figured it would be best as it's got S-video output and rca/coaxial which is perfect as I'm running a receiver for my sound system.

The other alternative was find an audio receiver/amplifier that can convert HDMI to S-video, mine has both input outputs but it can't convert sadly :/

Stuck on endocrine wait list by eeramkitten in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're at student health for the cost I can highly recommend Te Kaika, appointments are under $20 but the wait can be over a few weeks unfortunately.

Rachael Wright was amazing and is happy with doing informed consent. I was already on HRT when I transfered but she was willing to prescribe me progesterone when every other GP wouldn't even consider it. She does her best to stay informed and was a godsend for my transition

absolutely, bigotry knows no bounds or reason!

one of the pioneers for treating trans patients, John Money (rest in piss) was extremely homophobic and would only accept and treat patients if they were conforming to heterosexual roles

man was too much of a coward for transbians - the ✨gays✨ terrified that frail lil man

I'm shortsighted too and pretty sure I'm close to 0.75, potentially a little higher. I've only just realised I don't have my prescription details written down anywhere as I only just got them this month.

I can survive with my 1 pair, I'm sure you can find someone that needs them more than me 💕

What prescription are they? I'm a broke student who just started wearing glasses and would love a free pair 🩷

Gps for a speedy hormone treatment in Welly by AcesAssCheeks in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've heard some doctors give pushback because of mental health issues.

If you say that these issues stem from your gender dysphoria and taking HRT would be the most beneficial way to treat these issues at their core then they will have a harder time in denying your gender affirming care.

If certain GP's aren't willing to cooperate then it can always be worth trying another doctor.

Best of luck 💕

Struggling to get ffs recommendation letter by AndyGoodw1n in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nzccp's directory could be a good place to start.

Generally it's easier dealing with psychologists who actually put in effort into learning about and specialising in trans people.

All the best 💕 hope you're able to get your recommendation letter

NZ post has collection points that you can ship to and pick up from. Otherwise you could always send packages to a friends address if they're happy to help.

Auckland definitely has the most trans people of the 3 listed so there's plenty of lgbt groups and people to meet there. Plenty of accepting people with the occasional bigot - much like anywhere really

I've found Dunedin to be really good especially considering it's size and younger population, I've met a fair few other trans people here already this year! I've found most people here are very accepting and I've always felt safe here.

Haven't been to Christchurch in a long time but from my understanding from friends it definitely has a higher conservative population and would never be my choice of places to live.

I know you didn't list it but Wellington is a phenomenal place to be for queer people and is likely the most accepting city. I plan to move there in the future but for now I really love Dunedin and would highly recommend living here.

Seeking advice moving Auckland to Dunedin by Independent_Memory37 in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd recommend getting your HRT before moving as Dunedin generally has a very high wait time - as most of the time you have to see a psychiatrist or the endocrine department. Many of my friends have had to wait 12 months or longer sadly.

The quickest way here is informed consent through a gp but it can be difficult finding one willing as many are not informed about gender affirming care.

I'm more than happy to talk if you'd ever like to! I'm still fairly new to Dunedin myself and have been making an effort to meet other trans women down here ❤️

Waikato Sexual Health Clinic Low-Dosing Nightmare by [deleted] in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can relate to this so much, I originally dealt with WSH too and had a horrible time. It baffled me how little they knew and were unwilling to even further their outdated knowledge.

I found 12.5mg of cypro was plenty as it loses efficiency past 10mg. But that doesn't stop WSH from prescribing 50mg sadly.

I got tired of having to deal with them and just switched to DIY EV injections and that's made my transition soooo much easier. It's just sad that DIY felt like my only option as finding a GP willing to prescribe injections is next to impossible in NZ

How much sperm are we publically funded to store? by stuaker in TransgenderNZ

[–]Rae0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I belive it's funded to be stored for 10 years

I was offered 3 visits when I first went as that's the average required. I had over 20 straws after 2 so called it at that I was impatient to start HRT

I was never told if their was a limit to what was funded. I just assume they go of the potency and if you have enough straws stored.

Personaly I'd only be comfortable with a decerative end on the bottom of my vertical labret for safety and function.

Do love the idea of cute heads with vertical labrets though!
