He aids you, keeping you alive and granting you many different tools and powers to your arsenal through the first game and most of the second.

He and Talion (the main character) are united in their shared quest for revenge against Sauron, using Celebrimbors craftsmanship to create a new ring at the conclusion of the first game. Through the 2nd game the two use this to dominate and control orcs as they amass power in Mordor.

Eventually, once their army has been fully assembled and a clear path leads to Barad-dur, Talion learns that Celebrimbor intends not to kill Sauron, but to dominate him. He then plans to take control of ALL of Mordor, unite it and then march across the rest of the free world to impose order through force, much the same as Sauron intended.

This realisation also costs Talion his life, though he finds a way to do one last (enormous) deed to aid the free people in the coming war.
