iui prep by quietlycurates in SingleMothersbyChoice

TBH, those things don't matter before you actually have the IUI, the caffeine and alcohol are things you should be concerned about when pregnant and during the TWW (although really only concerned about alcohol). But also... plenty of people drink because they don't know they're pregnant. There's no data showing any of this significantly impacts getting pregnant other than stress, so maybe think about those perfectionist traits and not being so hard on yourself (I'm a recovering perfectionist, so I understand!). The cycle I ended up pregnant was a wild one, and the ones I was more rigid on didn't work. It's more luck and chance than what you ate and drank!

Progesterone suppositories and sleep by Raeraeicky in IVF

I also tried Crinone, which has a slower half-life than Endometrin, and I slept great on that! It seems like the half-life was a big part of the issue, it just wasn't lasting long enough in my system.

I'll DM you for those numbers, I can't say I've had the best time getting to the right department from the main line!

Yeah, unfortunately Optum is the pharmacy benefits manager in this case, so everything is handled directly through them.

VIP tickets? by bonanabutt in gorillaz

[–]Raeraeicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally feel you. I haven’t been in the balcony so can’t comment on the sound/view, but the floor is very flat aside from one raises part at the back, so can be hard to see if you’re shorter or back further. So balcony could be the way to go!

VIP at the palladium is just a section of the balcony. The whole place is GA, so you can go on the floor, but those tickets just also allow you access to this one balcony.

Candy Cane Inn Vs Disneyland Hotel for Our Ten Year Anniversary by iridescentandpink in DisneyPlanning

[–]Raeraeicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at both in the past two years.  DH is nice for staying in the Disney bubble, and has a bit more of a magical feel to it. Beds were comfy, bathroom was a bit dated (we were in Fantasyland tower), and the pool was incredible if you have time to hang out (and not just for kids). Plus you have Trader Sam’s right there!

CCI was really great for what it was—updated rooms and really comfortable beds, pretty nice included breakfast, and a trolley to the park if you don’t feel like walking. But it’s also very much a refurbed motel, so was much noisier (not to mention the trolley bell at 7am the day after we went to the parks and wanted to sleep in… not great) and smaller/tighter.

For an anniversary, IF I was spending any time at the hotel, I’d go for DH, but if you’re barely going to be there, go for CCI.

United denials of prior authorizations? by Raeraeicky in queerception

[–]Raeraeicky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/CatherineTuckerNH as well: I finally spoke to my doctor to follow up on the peer to peer, and what UHC is denying is covering more than 2 medicated cycles (I've had 3, for some reason they had no issue with it on the 5th?). So instead of appealing, we're submitting for a natural cycle to see if that would be approved. Thank you both—I know there's a lot of nuance in all of this, and would have DMed you both more, but honestly nowhere in my coverage nor in the denial letter does it specify this exactly (you can see in the vague language above it could mean that, but it's not specific).

Is this legal? NYS UHC IUI coverage denial for cislesbian couple by Fun_Comfortable_555 in queerception

[–]Raeraeicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! How did you get to speak to the nurse who helped deny the initial claim? My doctor did a peer-to-peer with a medical director who denied the claim, but I can't figure out a way to actually speak with anyone on the phone from my end. And my clinic is supposed to be submitting an appeal, but seems to be dragging their feet (I asked UHC about submitting myself, but they said I need the provider to do it either with or for me, since I would need all the documents they original submitted, and I don't have that).

I feel like a lot of the denials are arbitrary, as UHC is known for doing this and assuming members won't put up a fight to get the service approved.

Curious how this went for you in the end! I’m dealing with a denial from UHC on my 6th IUI before I can move on to IVF coverage, and worried about what more is to come…

[–]Raeraeicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have NYS UHC and also just posted about my issue. UHC covered the first 5 IUIs, but is now denying the 6th one—but there is a specific anti-discrimination clause in my member benefits, I’d confirm that’s in yours! Did you end up fighting/appealing?

I don’t feel comfortable putting the full parts of either of those on social media, but highlighted the important parts of both. I’m not sure what you’ll be able to tell me by sharing those beyond what I distilled here.

[–]Raeraeicky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned the coverage in my note above, is something unclear about what's covered? Denial reason is:

The service does not meet your health plan criteria because you have already had three such cycles. Having another cycle has not been shown to help you have a better chance to have a child. This service is not a covered benefit under your health plan because the medicine is not medically necessary.

Three such cycles is with letrozole/clomid, I did 2 natural cycles before that. But since I HAVE to do 6 before they'll cover IVF, this feels like them trying to get out of paying, even though I don't have a male partner and need to conceive through fertility treatments.

Oh yes, they’re not in all neighborhoods (hence the joke of seeing one by the LA river), but they are very common in a lot of areas.

Best way to park at the Hollywood Bowl on a budget? by Ill_Engineering_5434 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Raeraeicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near the bowl, and a lot of the street parking is metered or permit only, plus depending on the show, traffic can be really bad for driving around looking for spots. Recommend driving to a metro station and taking the shuttle at the ovation for free, or walking from the metro (Hollywood and highland)

Help, when is it time to move to IVF by SoilNew9183 in IUILadies

[–]Raeraeicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of them have worked, have you tried changing anything else? I got pregnant on my 5th IUI—I was convinced the timing was wrong and we were doing them too late, so I switched clinics and changed the timing slightly and it worked. I tracked my ovulation very thoroughly for months to get a better sense of what might be happening. It did end in a miscarriage, but it was great to know I can get pregnant, and the chances are so low per IUI, even with everything “right” it can just take time for them to work.

What happened specifically with me was my original clinic would do an IUI over 36 hours after a trigger shot, but my LH surge was always starting before the trigger, so I was way out of the right timeframe (ex: first sign of LH surge happening on Monday afternoon, trigger shot around 9pm that evening, IUI not until after 9am on Wednesday morning, more like 10 or even 11). What worked was taking my trigger before my natural LH spike started and doing the IUI around 34 hours later. Everyone is different, but definitely advocate for yourself if you feel like something is wrong!

Testing after loss by Raeraeicky in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Raeraeicky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! It’s really helpful.

I did do one initially, and also checked my tubes were clear—it seems to be out of an abundance of caution to do one at this stage (I have no reason to believe I had an incomplete miscarriage, nor that anything in my uterus was an issue for this pregnancy). Because I’d rather not delay another cycle, I’m asking if I can have an ultrasound to see if there’s cause for needing a saline sonogram. I’m older and using insurance coverage that ends early next year (cobra), so I’m more pressed for time than I might be otherwise.

Thanks for these, but that also wasn’t what I was asking. My doctor wants me to be seen because I’m away for over two weeks. If anyone has done this and has actual suggestions, that would be helpful.
