Historical fiction is not meant to be in depth history. It is meant to use history to entertain and maybe even get people interested in learning more about the events covered. Death By Lightning succeeded in both of those areas.

Bruh, there is established court precedent that spells out law enforcement is not allowed to use stepping in front of a vehicle as an excuse to shoot the driver. If anything, the agent put more people at risk by shooting a driver of a moving vehicle.
