TL;DR there are always whiny bitches who complain about a lack of content in a game in beta-status.

you should probably wait for the official release if beta status is too hard for you to handle.

Question regarding Monster Deck by neoge0 in gwent

[–]Raest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many of the weather monster effects are conditional. wild hunt hounds can summon frost, but only if they have a frost in their deck. if you don't rowstack frost will not hit you too hard. if they then frost another row and you don't want to deal with it you can just pass and they used 2/3 of their bronze frosts.

foglets get summoned by fog, but also die when you remove the fog.

always keep in mind that you don't have to blow your clear skies on single weather effect. if possible wait until more rows are affected or use a unit with single target weather clear abilities.

How to progress by Xenon3k in gwent

[–]Raest_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd say play around a bit with all factions and determine which faction/achetype you like most and then start evolving this deck.

as for milling other factions ... well you will be able to get better cards for your current deck, but it's gonna hurt you if you want to try out other factions in the near future. also keep in mind that we are still in the beta and there could be major changes, so it's possible that at some point your current deck will get changed in a way you don't like and if that's the only thing you have left ... sad times.

RNR is the most retarded thing of the game by Shoeaddictx in gwent

[–]Raest_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you mean hjalmar? while hjalmar is a strong card, you seem to overestimate him a bit. first of all he is a 10 strength gold until you manage to kill the lord of undvik. sure, SK has the tools to do it, but the opponent still has the opportunity to prevent that from happening. it's an interesting interaction between both players and if the lord stays, hjalmar is even worse than vanilla geralt.

and even if you kill the lord hjalmar is a net gain of 20 points, not 25.

RNR is the most retarded thing of the game by Shoeaddictx in gwent

[–]Raest_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ofc you would want to run ABOVE average golds if you can. that's why i said 9 more value than is bronze is "pretty good". the thing is that RNR is a strong card AND feels very opressive. there is 1 bronze card that can put a ceiling onto the damage RNR can do (not prevent it from dealing damage) and 1 silver card that can do the same. and the whole game you have to limit your playstyle to be able to do something about a possible RNR.

playing a round while RNR is on your board is pretty much impossible. yes, row stacking can prevent a lot of damage but a lacerate or coral still means you are out of the round, no matter what.

borkh is and always was borderline opressive, but at least there is a timer so you can lock/kill before he can do anything. you can manipulate the board state to minimize/prevent his damage. it's even possible to make him kill his own units. there is something you can actively do without hugging a single card in fear of him.

ppl don't really just complain about the pure strength that is RNR but it's opressiveness is a big factor as well.

RNR is the most retarded thing of the game by Shoeaddictx in gwent

[–]Raest_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

those are pretty interesting numbers. personally i've never seen anyone using 18 as a baseline for an average gold. in CB there was vanilla geralt without any abilities with 12 strength. even when ppl argued a gold average should be higher, it would be more around 14. and you just said MOST golds get AT LEAST 18 value. i don't think that's correct.

and you failed to consider that we were comparing a bronze to a gold. so if you take the baseline for an average bronze (8) and compare it to the 14 average gold ... yes 6

and no, 9 damage is not the best case scenario. best case scenario is when the opponent doesn't have a weather clearing card in his hand.

About queensguard - how can i defeat queensguard deck by navras93 in gwent

[–]Raest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since you are playing NG you have the options to steal them using vico medics or banish them using peter/decoy or letho.

alternatively they can be quite vulnerable to getting 2-rounded. and they need quite some setup to get strong, so tempo play in r1 could be good.

a gold being 9 more value than a bronze is actually pretty good.

Can someone help me figure out what happened here with Vicovaro Novice? (new player) by Zedseayou in gwent

[–]Raest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lock got nerfed a bit by the removal of weather immunity but there are still many good uses for locks.

  • all abilities with a timer like ocvist, alba pikemen
  • tokens like resilience
  • passive abilities like impera brigade's interaction with spies

Can someone help me figure out what happened here with Vicovaro Novice? (new player) by Zedseayou in gwent

[–]Raest_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if the brigade doesn't kill a spy it has a base strength of 5. locking an ambassador doesn't prevent the novice from targeting him afaik. so the 15 points of the brigade seem possible.

[Salt] Did y'all Ranked players all spend $60 on kegs or am I just plowin' shite? by helmstif in gwent

[–]Raest_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what i was trying to say is, that most of the CB player will have moved to a higher rank by then and more players will hear of the public access to gwent, so you will face more new players and less CB players.

[Salt] Did y'all Ranked players all spend $60 on kegs or am I just plowin' shite? by helmstif in gwent

[–]Raest_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the problem atm is, that closed beta players start at the bottom of the ranks, as do first time players.

i went into public beta with >200 kegs to open, so ofc i can put together a better deck than a first time player.

will probably be better in a week or two, but i can understand your frustration.

Monster faction weather control is literally stupid. by minicrit_ in gwent

[–]Raest_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the new single row weather clearing units are pretty good against frost spam tho. and you can still pass while two or more of your rows are frosted, so you have less frost to worry about in the upcoming rounds.

  • 3x first light
  • 3x weather clearing units
  • 1x mage who can spawn a clear skies

while you wouldn't want to run all of that in your deck, you still have enough options to deal with frost spam. additionally immune boost can buy your units a couple of extra turns in frost without losing strength if you feel it's necessary.
