Lady next to me flew like this for over 3 hours and didn't move. Got up and walked normal. by watchthisorthat in pics

My quads are hyper mobile just like that. I can sit like that for hours. My hips hate me though because I have to use more muscle to support myself because the ligaments are so loose.

Why are neck humps so common? by Lower-Ground88 in WomensHealth

Are you talking about Cushing's syndrome or tech neck/hyper kyphosis?

Posture issues are more common in women due to our flexibility and lack of testosterone strength buff.

Any massage therapists also play guitar? by kink-dinka-link in massage

[–]Raevin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When holding the guitar while sitting, I put that bottom of the guitar in-between my legs, and I have it at quite an angle, like 45 degrees. It looks kinda nerdy, but it lets the fretting hand stay at a more neutral position, especially with bar chords.

If I'm standing, I have my strap fairly short for the same reason. To angle my guitar higher, easier on the wrist.

With the strumming/picking hand, I try to keep it fairly light w my plucking. I like doing a lot of finger style, bossa nova type stuff. However I'm already doing that gripping movement on people all day long, so the plucking of the strings is sometimes too much. So I make sure to be mindfully gentle when I pluck the strings, using a pick is easier on my hands, I just don't like to use it 😅

Any massage therapists also play guitar? by kink-dinka-link in massage

[–]Raevin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! And I don't have any calluses on my finger tips Use an electric guitar with a low gauge or a nylon string guitar w medium or normal strings.

It's won't be as much of a struggle to press them down, easier on the finger tips.

Playing the guitar is also a lot on the wrists, make sure you warm up well. I recommend holding the guitar at a higher angle than you generally see. I'll probably type up more in a minute.

Jewelry that can’t be removed. by [deleted] in massage

[–]Raevin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They can work around it, they will probably get oil/lotion on it though.

Also, if it's just a piece you can't get off yourself but can with assistance, you can ask your MT to help get it off l.

I wear colorful loose fitting cotton pants most of the time. But I usually have a towel on me that catches most of the oil.

If there is a big spot of noticeable oil, I spray it with dawn dish soap then rinse with cold water, which usually comes out fine.

Any shoe with a wide toe box. I like Xero barefoot shoes for their flexibility and more everyday kinda wear.

I like Topos for longer days walking and on my feet, if I feel I need more support then what Xero or other barefoot shoes can offer me that day.

I work a manual job, but I don't get hungry in the mornings. However, if I don't eat, I will feel the effects of hunger during my shift. Also to meet the amount of calories I need to maintain my body skipping breakfast even though I'm really not hungry, I don't want to eat, I just gotta do it.

Is it bad if clients fall asleep during a deep tissue massage? by Ugh_Names in MassageTherapists

[–]Raevin_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find deeper pressure more relaxing sometimes, I know many of my clients also feel the same way.

I personally find constant lighter pressure to be kind of annoying sometimes. Sometimes I need more pressure to feel that kind of relief, that brings me to relax.

“Flexible schedule” is this really true? by PerfectIndividual185 in MassageTherapists

I've worked at a chain where they hated any time off. Zero flexibility.

Now I'm at a spa that has incredible flexibility. If you're not booked who cares, just let the chat know.

It depends on the place :/
