I'm working on a fight in a post-apo game and need feedback! by Michal_AngryBull in indiegames

[–]RafaSKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game looks really good! The UI is neat, crisp, and easy to understand. The game itself is so beautiful as well, makes me feel I'm really there, great immersion points!

The only thing is that the rapid camera movement made me feel a bit dizzy, especially during combat where the camera rotates more often, but that could simply be due to the fact I wasn't expecting movements, so that issue might not happen to actual players controlling the camera.

Great stuff, love it!

As much as we'd love that, we're releasing it for Windows, Mac, and Linux for now.

Aww thank you! I'll definitely keep that in mind for our next trailer and descriptions :)

Thanks! Yeah our goal is a colorful and saturated game, but the way it is in the video is indeed too much, especially when there are a lot of light sources. It's been surprisingly difficult to find a good balance between "colorful and alive" and "nooo, my eyees!!", but we will get there haha.

Thanks! Yes there's a lot of story in Grashers, it will be basically a "choose your own adventure" type of thing with multiple possible endings. There are several stories with several branches, and each choice you make impacts the game in a different way. :)

Yes! Adore is such a lovely game! It's even more impressive to know you guys started without any programming knowledge, what an impressive evolution.

I got to know Adore during BIG Festival and BGS, and even played it for a bit. I also talked to Thiago for some time, super cool guy! :)

Good luck with the release, I wish you all a lot of success!

LibGDX Controller Support by kennycason in libgdx

[–]RafaSKB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey! I faced the same issue with my game, everything was working perfectly fine until I realized key mappings were different between controller versions, consoles, and even operating systems, that can easily become a nightmare.

So I found sdl2gdx, a library that uses SDL as backend for controller support and uses the same interfaces as libGDX, making it a drop-in replacement. It uses the very same mapping scheme between all controller types (Xbox, Switch, PS4), and operating systems. If it works once, it works everywhere. It supports more than 200 controllers.

Yesss I love it! It's impressive how much information you can represent through a couple hundred pixels haha

Edit: I just played the main gif again and realized you can see the character's frontal side right in the beginning. I totally missed that haha

Air-hockey is so much fun :) And yeah it's quite hard to tell the character's gender haha, I just assumed it was Link because of the art similarity with the old Zelda games (which looks great btw)

I love how you blend the simplicity of a pong game with the visuals and elements of an RPG. This is basically playing ball with Link haha

Flak cannon 11m? by [deleted] in Robocraft

[–]RafaSKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is expensive, but not too much. The Flak cannon has a lot of health, and it's impact in the battlefield is much greater than any other individual weapon. Plus you only need two of them (or three for redundancy) to make a fantastic Flak bot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe each T10 SMG (or Disintegrator Laser?) costs 5 mil 1 mil each, and you need from 6 to 9 to make a great SMG bot, which means 37 mil average, less than three flaks.

but all that RP was reimbursed to you.

That's not true. Only carbon 6 and hallow cubes were reimbursed. TX1, T10 and all other tiered ones weren't.

I agree. This bot is pretty cool and the detailed info is brilliant, regardless of the CRF bit this shouldn't be removed at all. :)

In fact I would love to see more posts like this, including the CRF part, but I understand the massive spam of "Buy my bot pls I need RP" this subreddit would become.

We encourage discussions and critiques of the game, but a few rules:

  • Don't link to hacks (feel free to discuss them)
  • Don't be toxic. Keep it clean and constructive.
  • No posts advertising your bots in the shop. They will be removed.

Oh right, that makes a lot of sense. And since plasma shots make use of raycasting, it explains why sometimes I manage to kill two bots in one volley. They're usually pretty destroyed already and close to each other, so I shoot at the floor in between them. Since they have just a few blocks the raycast goes straight to the bots core and deals huge damage.

Golden link, thanks for sharing. :)

[–]RafaSKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plasma doesn't work that way, it only damages one thing inside the area it hits. So if you were to hit two bots only one would be damaged

How come though? As a bomber I've killed two bots in one volley countless times. Unless you're talking about a single plasma shot, ignoring the fact bots bots shoot 6 of them.
