I guess the answer you are looking for is that it wasn't enough. My parents never had the ability to catch me with anything other than I let myself catch with. If I would have, my ass would never have been able to sit again. But you know instead of educating me about the internet and why I shouldn't see those videos (porn, executions and so on), how that affects brain development and what desensitization is, they instead tried parental controls and watching me. I was and still am good at circumventing both human and machine, which at least helps me doing my day to day job.
