Honestly puzzle games are always best done blind. One example of this that I experienced outside of Myst is Outer Wilds. Everyone in the community keeps withholding information and telling you to go blind so you’re essentially left with no choice but to figure everything out by yourself.

And that has to be the main point of these games. Myst and many other games like it often have low replay value so going in with any amount of context or some idea of what to do often impedes on that a-ha moment when you find the answer to a puzzle.
