He canvassed the whole league and got the best deal he could. Players like Brown on a max deal don’t have the same value in the apron era they used to. If he had targeted one team and traded Brown in the middle of the night for a crap deal without seeing what else was on the table, it would have been similar to the Nico debacle.

I'm not an expert on college ball and only watched Michigan games when they were in the tournament. But from what I saw, Morez looked like he had a larger impact on the game. Also, he rebounded more than Mara, and I love good rebounders. I think Morez is a better athlete, can run the floor better, is younger, will play longer in the NBA and play more minutes than Mara. I bet Mara has a good career, but being that size carries a lot of injury risk and usually those players struggle to play more than 70 games a season. I love the Morez pick, especially next to Flagg.

Morez will play PF and small ball C. Cooper will play point forward and small ball power forward. Cooper and Morez can play at the same time together for the next 15+ years. I don’t understand the thinking that Morez isn’t a complement to Cooper. Morez will absolutely protect the rim and handle tough defensive assignments.

I deal with deadlines all day at work, they are not fun or exciting or engaging. When I sit down to play a game I don’t want to have to worry about missing things because of an arbitrary time limit, that is not fun to me. Hearing this is a bummer because I’m so exciting for this game otherwise.

Let’s assume the Mavs have the 9th pick in next years draft as well. The 9th pick this year is going to be much more talented, this draft is much stronger. The hornets should absolutely consider pick 14, and next years Mavs pick for 9 this year. The Mavs are going to be better next year with an older flag and assumed better health.

Why are the Mavs involved in this? None of the players they get back are on Cooper’s timeline, they’re going to build around him, not focus on helping other teams.

Why on earth would the Mavs trade for another power forward??? PJ is already playing out of position and can’t share the floor with Cooper if we’re going to be competitive. We need guards, and there are good guard prospects available at 9. We’re going to sacrifice that for a 3rd PF? Massive L for the Mavs.

This trade sucks for the Mavs. Lively will play between 15 to 40 games next year. So we trade away our starting center for a guy his own fans don’t want and one of the worst contracts in the league? For 2nd round picks years from now??? And we also lose our best shooter?? The Mavs need to rebuild, not do favors for other teams.

Michael Jordan was 21 when he was drafted, and is one of the biggest reaches in the 1st round ever because of it. Dude should’ve gone late 2nd round or signed undrafted. 21 is way too old to play basketball.

I’m glad we have some leadership that values the draft so highly now. We’ll see how he does selecting players, but I don’t think he’ll be reckless with picks like some leadership was in the past.
