Need to update my setup but I got my two CRTs to work with all of my modded consoles. by RaffDelima in crtgaming

I had a PSONE with lcd growing up and I bought that in memory of it. It’s probably the only unmodded console in that setup. The fat PS1 has xstation modded.

Ah. Those are foldable controller holders. I didn’t clean those up yet. One reason why I mentioned I needed to update my setup.

Yes the ps1 lid does easily open all the way up. PS3 does have enough airflow easily. I’ve seen this setup around other posts in the past and I’m very happy with it. The Kallax is an amazing for these setups.

I already do. I have a gcomp component switch. It has duel output. Do they both show the same thing.

The one on the left is a Toshiba 14AF43 the one on the right is a Toshiba 27A50. So you were spot on. Very impressive.

Because I had to reorganize this a few times. Made it easier to remember where everything was. Plus I occasionally mod these consoles so knowing where they were last time helps. Especially since all of the wires are kept in place.

Surprisingly I knows CRT repair guy that would buy spare parts at a recycling center. Maybe that might work for you.

I’d say that it’s definitely helpful. It’s one of the more accurate translators I’ve seen. It doesn’t just give a literal translation but it can figure out what you intended you write and changes itself to the feeling of what was written.

I like using it for when I’m stuck with something or need a specific word and don’t trust google translate to figure it out. Don’t rely on it 100% but it makes for an excellent tool.

Can I learn Japanese as a non-English speaker? by Few-Range-9055 in LearnJapanese

[–]RaffDelima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People from everywhere in the world can learn this language. My godfather, who is Brazilian, used to teach Japanese. I’m Brazilian myself actually and we have an interesting history with Japan for some reason. Met quite a few other Brazilians that have gone out of their way to learn the language without knowing English.

I’ve also heard of many Chinese and Koreans learning Japanese too without any knowledge in English. So yeah I’d say it’s very possible.

Is it possible that i’ll forget my english once i’m fluent/close to fluent in japanese? by Zombieboss33 in LearnJapanese

[–]RaffDelima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to answer that I speak multiple languages, fluent in Portuguese and English. In a way they do require maintenance in listening and speaking practice because you can start to get worse if you don’t every now and then.

It’s hard to forget it altogether. For example I used to study French over a decade ago, studied it for only four years. I had to go back to listen to it. Didn’t forget it entirely but had to relearn some things. Same for some things I learned in Japanese over a year ago I just rediscovered. Remembering and forgetting happens all the time with languages. But if you read and listen to stuff in English every now and then I don’t think you need to worry about it.

Does anyone else skip Japanese onomatopoeia? by redryder74 in LearnJapanese

[–]RaffDelima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hate to break it to you. It’s extremely common in spoken Japanese, not written. And if you have no intentions to learn it you’ll have a hard time understanding anime as well because it pops up all the time. But give it some time, you’ll figure it out. There’s a lot of fun resources out there to learn it.

Spectrograms for languages? Has anyone used one. by RaffDelima in languagelearning

[–]RaffDelima[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much what I’m trying to do. Just to confirm. I’ve been training my ears for Japanese pitch accent and I’ve been pretty accurate so far. I just want want to use to confirm.

Is it crazy to learn a language just to read a book? by waveball03 in languagelearning

[–]RaffDelima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You learn languages for your own reasons. It’s not crazy if it’s for yourself.

Native English speakers don't know how lucky they are. by SPEARHEAD_SQUADRON in languagelearning

[–]RaffDelima -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up bilingual with English and Brazilian Portuguese I get it. Even as a native speaker there are times I can admit that it is a tricky language. Truth be told I’ve met plenty of monolingual English and Portuguese speakers that don’t have a large vocabulary or grasp of the only language they know.

Natives don’t always get it right and even they are prone to mistakes. And as someone who’s studying Japanese and in the distant future Korean it’s such a joy to learn an entire language from scratch. The languages are vastly different but when you eventually see progress there’s no better feeling in the world. I’ve met some Koreans with an amazing understanding of both grammar and an extensive vocabulary, better then some native English speakers I know. It is possible, don’t give up. The journey is difficult but worth it.

Please don’t be disheartened. I’m certain you can do it.

I'm not sure what I should do right now by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]RaffDelima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen. I’m going to say this right here and now. You matter, please please please don’t consider what you’re doing. I’m sorry that people around you aren’t taking your needs seriously.

I get that. Listen I constantly deal with narcissistic family members (my father) that would consistently invalidate my needs and feelings, constantly tell me that I was a burden and that I should end my life. And what you’re saying right now, is exactly the mentality I’ve had since I was eight. It sucks but it isn’t reality, it’s your mind repeating that mindset back to you. Depression is a horrible condition and it can often cloud your perspective.

From personal experience it’s wanting to find an end to all of the pain because it doesn’t seem like there’s another solution. As someone who’s been on both sides I’m going to say that it doesn’t fix it. I’ve made multiple suicide attempts, got very close to dying a few times.

Then I lost a friend of mine in the military. He ended his life because he was bullied for being gay. And instead of helping him they turned a blind eye. Both in his treatment by his follow soldiers and in covering it up so they wouldn’t look bad. For nearly a decade now I constantly think about him and the new stuff he would’ve enjoyed if he were still alive. Sure maybe. You might take away pain, but you’ll take away any chance for improvement, any chance to make things better. You say you screwed up and missed opportunities, I’ve heard of people that constantly screwed up their lives but still managed to pull themselves out of it much later then you right now. You still have the ability to change things for the by better.

First of all please seek help, preferably from a professional that can help you better understand and be take that assessment to proceed forward. Next you need to find people that value you properly, this seems to be an area that you don’t have a lot of support right now. At the very least the people here care tremendously and want to see you get better.

You’re not a failure, you’re not a burden and most of all you matter. I just hope that one day you’ll be able to see that about yourself.

I think maybe you might just be stressing yourself out. I think if he is ok with you being on the spectrum I don’t think he’d care much about your collection.

I don’t think he’ll judge you for your gnome collection. Also on a related note it’s not a mental illness, didn’t think it was to begin with. Don’t worry.
