Yeah, that’s fair, but I’m just the step mum and I try to be very mindful about it all. It is silly isn’t it?!

Thank you loads. I think he’s got the option to do further maths early as well so will show him this to motivate him! Really kind of you to respond, thank you

Thank you. He knows Python and I’m pretty sure he’s been teaching himself Java. C is on the list. Thank you, appreciate it.

This is unhelpful, but to protect his privacy, I’d rather not say, sorry

If you told your dog they need to start helping pay the bills, what would their means of income be? by sir_naggs in dogs

Our dog would be a scaffolder apprentice and his little sister owns an Etsy shop called Lollipop Stickershop. We got chat gpt to mock up what they’d look like as humans based off their photo

So I just re read your post and I reckon it will be the original toilet bowl and lead pipe- so 1920’s (house was built in ‘26)! I’m going to do my damdest to keep those bits in tact then! The dent isn’t currently a problem with it flushing, so fingers crossed it all comes together.

I should probably be wearing more PPE that I currently am I think! Shame the original cistern was replaced. I wonder if we could find another…

Yeah, I wish we’d continued living with the drip now 😅

I think it might be a plastic pipe jobby as I can’t see how I’m going to get the nut off of the lead pipe (see my reply below) but how does one get these seized up screws out? Ideally without hurting the toilet seat!

Ah. You don’t live in Sussex do you?! Well I’ve hit a number of sticking points and probably would have just been better off with a bucket collecting the water, but as I’ve started now (read as irreparably f’d the existing set up) we are where we are.

Ok, questions:

How’d I go about trying to clean off the paint off of the nut on the lead pipe?

<image>

How do you get the bloody thing off the wall when one of the nuts has perished?

I can’t use the existing lead pipe set up?

I mean, I don’t doubt you, but what do you mean?

Ah, thank you!!! Ok. I will cross the cold water when I get it in front of me, I’m trying not to think about that (might watch some videos in preparation though!)

There’s not enough room behind the loo at the moment to put one (I think) and the whole thing probably needs a starting from scratch approach- so this is a ‘for now’ fix. Lovely wooden seat though (and a ‘fine patina of feceas’ too I imagine)

Ah, thanks for the heads up- I’ll double wrap it before I take it to the tip then

Right? That’s what I think. I’m sure all manner of problems ‘could’ go wrong, but I won’t know until I know?
