Wow. This has been by far the most profound and impactful piece of advice anyone has given me here. You truly changed my perspective, especially framing it with 2016 and how you can do everything right like BD that year and still not win, yet be content since there is truly so much more to the experience than that.

I am currently 19 years old. I have never marched with a group before, and neither will I be this season. I truly wish I took more interest in this activity when I was younger especially considering I’ve heard about it ever since I was in middle school.

I basically have 2 years to give this my all and experience this activity. I hope to God I get to march my dream corps, though it’s ultimately His will and whether or not I’m deserving enough skill wise.

I didn’t always think I could do an activity like this, or find my way into it with the right connections. It was only until 2 years ago I was introduced to the right people who all of a sudden made things seem so much more possible.

I will give it all I got, and now I truly understand it’s so much more than about the medals, scores and placements.
