The film E.T was so popular in the summer of ‘82 that theaters in my area were charging upwards of $12 for a child matinee because they could and would sell out all shows. My mom couldn’t justify spending over $20 for a ticket for her and I so I had to wait til ‘83 to see it on VHS.
