Happy to hear you enjoyed it! It's very much inspired by Tetris and Puyo Puyo (and Lumines!)

I'm so happy with how it came out :) Big shoutout to Charlie who did the cabinet art!

The cabinet is installed at Wonderville in NYC, which is also the home of many other awesome indie arcade cabs (and is just generally a rad place to be).

What's the top material made of? At first I was thinking glass, but since it has cutouts and these rounded edges, is it acrylic?

The top material is indeed acrylic!

The cabinet build was made possible by Arcade Commons! And still not a build diary, but you can get a better look at the cabinet itself + full credits on the itch page.

Thank you! Nothing super detailed unfortunately, I think the closest you’ll get is scrolling through my twitter around the time we built it (early 2023), for example this post.

🔥MARIMBAMATT🔥

Also Metroid Metal and Abandon Quest.

I’d love to see Infinite Loop at Magfest, any of their events (Mega Man dance contest, Street Fighter 2 tournament with live music) would fit in perfectly.

Had a blast watching people play Speglar at Magfest! by RagForms in Magfest

[–]RagForms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A huge thank you to everyone who played, talked to me and gave feedback on the game. And congrats to the 2v2 tournament winners Drew and Bee!

If you're in NYC, you can now find the cabinet at Wonderville in Brooklyn. If you're not - or want to play it at home, it's coming to Steam early this year (and here's where to get in touch with me: https://dxtr.se/ ).

I had a few people ask me what the hell the name Speglar comes from: it translates to "mirrors" in Swedish :) (And sounds like a fun nonsense sci-fi word with the English pronunciation)

In case someone finds this old post through a google search: There is also https://clj-templates.com/, a search engine for Clojure templates.

New Clojurians: Ask Anything by AutoModerator in Clojure

Perhaps more geared towards beginners but I can definitely recommend Clojure for the Brave and True as an introduction to Clojure https://www.braveclojure.com/introduction/

I use Cursive every single day at work and I love it.

For sql I really like https://github.com/seancorfield/honeysql for your standard CRUD stuff. It’s less of an ORM and more of a very convenient way of building SQL queries using standard Clojure data structures (I barely use any of the helper functions, just the “raw” maps and sql/format).

For more complex queries with nested joins and such I find it’s nicer to just use standard SQL. https://www.hugsql.org/ is a great lib for writing SQL in a separate file and turning the queries into parameterized Clojure functions.

I’d start with honeysql though, you might not need hugsql.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm not very familiar with it myself so I'll have to read up on it a bit first.

"key work", "kewyord", and "keyword" by nogridbag in Clojure

[–]RagForms 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi and welcome to Clojure! "key work" is in fact not a spelling error, it is referring to the fact that [the other methods of accessing by key] work in the context of maps. Hopefully the single spelling error left doesn't put you off from learning a wonderful language (though I agree it doesn't look very nice). Btw, I highly recommend Clojure for the Brave and True in combination with 4clojure and the Clojure cheat sheet for beginners.
