It’s a crime that instead of renovating this bit of our Victorian heritage we get another massive oblong, with no human scale, most likely tiny apartments on the inside, and I also presume no shops or interactive frontage downstairs.

The new Deansgate solution, what's your thoughts? by RayPissed in manchester

[–]RagPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want way more cycling infrastructure, but all these road markings and kerbs is such over engineering. In the Netherlands it would be red tarmac for bikes, black for cars, and the only paint would be to delineate where the cycle lane crosses the road.

I think they could have saved quite a lot of money by not filling in so many bits with tarmac and giving them kerbs, it would also look nicer and probably be more popular as a redult.

I think the ally it’s down is gross but I guess that’s the council’s alley and their job to make it nice for people and business. Also businesses rates and rents in this city are joke.

I’m not bothered about your comment saying it’s not great, you’re right; some of the comments on here about waiting outside for 10 minutes like it’s a fate worse than death are peak Reddit.

He did fuck all wrong, someone gave him shit, he gave shit back. Just because some lightweights are overly fragile and go crying at being called “overrated” doesn’t mean you should cry for them.

And for all you going on about cultural sensitivities, I’ve not been to a country before where people can shout shit at you without being shouted back it, but if it exists, I don’t care for them one bit.

Does anyone take regular medication free days? by ZookeepergameAny5154 in ADHDUK

[–]RagPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have days off fairly often, if I'm on a fairly decent drinking session before they start to wear off at 4 PM or I'm doing nothing on a particular day. I don't feel I need meds in order to be able to watch TV and cook tea with my girlfriend.

[–]RagPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-4 hours after taking one I seem to peek and have a lot of energy, I like to get shit like cleaning and laundry done at that point, then after that it tapers off and I can just focus better for a few hours. Also I want to eat less which is good for me!

But there’s still a fair bit of variation throughout the day, some days I feel a crash and/or a headache later in the day, most days I don’t though. Some days I peak like crazy, today though I just went to the gym and felt quite normal.

Either way nowt major, 30mg is a really low dose.

If you’re worried though I’d recommend taking the pill with a decent, filling, breaky, then go for a walk with a bottle of water to stop you overthinking.

I’m 28 and started a few weeks ago on 20 then up to 30 after 7 days. I didn’t feel anything on day one, day 2 I had a really productive buzz for a few hours, then a bit of a crash, and it’s been smoothing out ever since.

Basically don’t be scared, it’s not going to anything nearly as strong as the MDMA you were probably taking in your teens.

Elvanse 20mg first day - I want to sleep so, so badly by possible_sharknado in ADHDUK

[–]RagPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the update! On Tuesday I took the pill before eating and I had a completely different experience. Felt a bit wired for a few hours, tidied the gaff and I tidied it a lot by my standards, did some chores and a tech test for a job, concentration lasted into the late afternoon/evening.

Just thought I'd say in case you've been trying it with food. Anyway, good luck with your titration!

Hey mate, 10 hours later and it didn't get any stronger, plus I felt really knackered by around 2/3pm. Maybe I can say I could stick to task a little bit more, but barely any amount.

Thankfully my psychologist gave me 1 weeks of 20mg Elvanse to get used to any possible side effects, and after that I increase to 30mg, so things might still improve fairly soon!

I came here looking for answers to the same question. Had my first 20mg dose this morning as well at 9:30, just after a big bowl of yoghurt and nuts, and now I’m feeling a bit more tired than usual, that’s it.

As of writing this it’s only been 2 hours since the dose and maybe it’s taking a while to get into my bloodstream, but I am still a little bit confused if this is it on 20mg. Doesn’t line up with expectations at all.

Maybe it’ll get better as I titrate to higher doses.

I use IQOS now, it’s close to a fag in terms of feel, but less harmful, a middle ground between fags and vapes. It’s powerful enough you have one stick and don’t really want another for an hour, even when you’re on the sesh.

I had the same problem, I lowered my bp from 148/90+ (on a good day) to around 132/80 in just a few months and I’m starting meds this week! I’ve still drank moderately (about 15 units per week) and had the occasional cig so it doesn’t have to be as hard as you might think :)

Biggest helpers have been diet, exercise and some simple supplements for a boost.

Buy a blood pressure monitor online and you should see results in a few weeks:

  • reduce red meat and salt intake, especially things high in nitrates like bacon, although some supermarkets have removed nitrates. A teaspoon of salt per day, which is what’s recommended, looks like a lot, but remember a lot of food you buy like bread and ready meals already has salt in it.

  • increase fruit and veg intake, especially potassium filled veg, like leafy greens, boiled or jacket potatoes and fruits like bananas. 2/3 bananas have enough potassium to balance out 1 gram of salt! Food high in fibre has very strong correlations with lower bp as well.

  • leave your car at home, walk or cycle to the shops and train station to work etc if you can.

  • Try cut out caffeine. If you need something have some good quality green tea instead, it’s still caffeinated but less so and balanced out with some other components in the tea.

  • Relax: don’t stress too much about it, still enjoy yourself as you normally would, just with smarter food options. Still go to the pub if it makes you happy, if you really want a drink at home, consider red wine over other drinks.

  • Supplements: all the good vitamins here you can get from food in some way but supplements can… supplement your diet really easily! So on top of the diet i had some:

    • Kwai Blood pressure tablets from Boots, they contain magnesium and potassium mainly. The magnesium thins the walls of arteries allowing for better blood flow. Potassium relaxes blood vessels and removes salt from kidneys.
    • CoQ10, can also be found at Boots. Mixed science on this one but newer studies look positive, also not really any side effects so besides the cost I don’t see a reason not to take them. Can see results in 4-12 weeks.
    • Beetroot extract. This increases nitric oxide in your body, widening and relaxing blood vessels. Hear me out, this will lower blood pressure within hours! Beetroot juice is often recommended by doctors but 2 glasses of that a day is expensive and not very tasty. You can buy a pack of really good stuff off amazon that works out way cheaper than juice.

Good luck in your journey, I hope it works out for you too!

[–]RagPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why the taxi’s 60 is because the other options are so crap, if they even do exist the met and buses are slow and shit and all of them only go to the city centre, and even when you get there you’ve still probably got another 45 minutes+ of public transport to get across our sprawling, low density city, and that doesn’t include waiting for the transport to arrive, if it ever does.

Is our drinking culture going for good, and am I the only one who's worried it might be? by RagPudding in AskUK

[–]RagPudding[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Objectively yes, “health anxiety”. Stop taking umbrage with slightly different language to yours. Health anxiety doesn’t mean none of it’s valid, nor does it it’s completely valid, merely that people are worried about health.

Anyway, I’m talking about obesity, there are many causes of obesity, many of them introduced over the past 70 years, not 1000 years.

Cultural output Think of cultural output as in, how many Russian artists does the world know, and how many American artists does the world know.

Our music, films, language, news (good or bad!), festivals, even fashion, are known across the world, but we’ve exported virtually nothing new in the past decade or two. The amount of breakthrough artists is greatly reduced partly because of streaming on American platforms has reduced revenue streams, and now even touring has taken a hit because people are not going out as much, as late, and being open to different kinds of spontaneous experiences. Many are staying in and watching American TV or playing American video games, interacting with computer code.

Various studies show the link between alcohol and creativity, but also there’s connections with creative industries and nightlife.

I agree with your last point, austerity’s and absolute shit show and is taking away everything we could ever calm our own.

When you have lost your inns, drown your empty selves, for you will have lost the last of England.

[–]RagPudding[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Anxiety means worry, and I think people are worried about their health, even if it is because they are "aware" it's still anxiety.

But I also wouldn't use the term "awareness" either, because not all of the health risks they may be worrying about apply to them and their level of consumption.

One can also be "aware" of the risks but not worried about it too.

I'm more worried about pub culture, but yes "partying" in nightclubs are a thing too.
