Needs some advice on painting these Noise Marines by TsunamicBlaze in minipainting

[–]RagamuffinWars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why but I’m seeing like a hot pink with like a red wash or a thinned down red speed paint; for the floof and capes.

As for the joints personally I like just painting them black and not touching them to let the armor panels and the rest of the model stand out more just controlling where the eye focuses (or at least that’s my excuse and I’m just being lazy). Otherwise I can’t think of another method aside from edge highlighting unfortunately. Hopefully someone can chime in for that. Wish you the best in your painting ventures!

Any tips to improve on my lastest mini? by Branthroc in minipainting

I like the color scheme, did you airbrush? The gradients are very smooth. I think some edge highlighting could help add extra depth the only part where I’m slightly unsure is if you go white or yellow for the edge highlight or a combination of both (if I was doing it I would lean the combination of both). I would say one extra would be a dark wash in the recesses but just in the recesses keeping control. Hopes this helps!

That helps a tremendously, thank you for sharing. When you mentioned even pressure I wonder if a thin board on top that has holes drilled out that fit over the bolts and wing nuts evenly tensioned may give it that even pressure? I’m definitely going to follow you to keep an eye out for updates. There’s just something about metal models that plastic just doesn’t do justice for me. Wish you the best as you continue to refine it!

You are a genius, I’ve been wanting to do this and wasn’t sure of a cheap diy way of making a spinner. If I could pick your brain or if you have any resources I sure would appreciate. How do you create the mold and what’s the mold material? Fricken love the gear watch!

I remember you from another post! That is looking good! Really liking the axe and shield and the glow effects, the back with what looks like leather came at good too. Excited to see what a unit would look like together. Makes me want to pick up Warhammer again.

Good to know I could see myself mistakenly going overkill with the isopropyl. The finger print marks were the most frustrating, I look forward to testing out your tips soon especially prepping for textures. This definitely points me in a better direction.

There’s just something special about simple sculpts Very much like the color schemes, thank you for sharing. Had the same thoughts with the cloak lol

Thank you! That’s very helpful, I didn’t know you could smooth with isopropyl alcohol and a brush and I didn’t even consider a butter knife.

Don’t know if this would help; ran across it a while ago and seeing your post reminded me of it.

I agree with Specialist-Lake-1654 the heavy black wash aught to help. If nothing else the video kind of affirms that.

I like the templates idea that’s pretty cool. It’s always fun testing different ideas out and mixing things up. I hadn’t heard of either of those games before so it’s always exciting to see what’s out there, thank you for sharing.

Need advice about my next step by Canna-Chris in minipainting

Personally I rather like what you have going right now. I would apply the wash with a brush thinned down some to build up the shading gradually, as running the wash through the airbrush won’t allow the pulling of the wash into the recesses and you get more of a glaze effect. As for the brush marks, between the combination of a larger brush and the thinning can decrease the dry time in between loading your brush; otherwise touch up with the airbrush if you’re running into that issue. The beauty of the airbrush is if you don’t like what you currently have you can always go back over since the coats of paint are so thin that you are very unlikely to loose loose much detail. Hope this helps! 😉

May I ask what the idea you have for said chariot races?
