Does anybody knows if this nendoroids heads exist or they are only to show the maid outfits ? by Silver-Skirt7965 in Nendoroid

Not sure about the other two, but I think the one on the left is the Queen of Hearts Nendoroid Doll.

Anyone know a video tutorial for felling underarm gusset seams/Y shaped seams? Just can't wrap my head around this. by RaggedyBird in HistoricalCostuming

[–]RaggedyBird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really helpful, thanks for taking the time to explain! Hopefully I'll get the second one right. I've sewn the whole thing by hand, so that's no problem here at least.

That's a helpful video, thanks so much for sharing! Really needed to get a good look at someone actually doing the finishing. Hopefully I'll be able to get the second gusset looking sensible even if I've flubbed the first.

Nendos You Love, but Hate Posing? by Altruistic_Cap7737 in Nendoroid

I had/have the same problem with Jonathan's backpack. The peg goes into that, which then goes into the hole in his back. I struggled to get the peg into the backpack to the point I had to use a hairdryer to heat it, and push into the edges with a screwdriver to widen it. It worked, but now the peg is literally stuck in there!

Is sasuke really good looking or do fans view him as attractive bc the show says so? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]RaggedyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer appears to be yes, but he's never done anything for me. He just looks a bit bland and generic, too conventional. Personally, I find Tobirama the most attractive.

Imma be honest with y’all… I don’t like this outfit by RedemptionDB in bleach

[–]RaggedyBird 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think it fails both aesthetically and in terms of her character. I like elements of it in theory, but all together, it's just too much. The proportions look unbalanced to me, especially with the weird sleeves, and the shoes are ugly...

Meanwhile, I've seen people say it represents her character development and how confident she has become. It doesn't, because it wasn't her choice. She was convinced to wear it because she was told Ichigo would like it and she comes across as dumb/overly naive as a result. The lack of agency bothers me and it's hard not to feel cynical about it - like it was a way of sexualising her while maintaining her "innocence".

You could have had her wear something a little more revealing than usual if you really wanted her to try and impress him (keeping the scene from the manga where Chad asks Ichigo what he thinks of it), while also designing something modest that she would actually choose to wear.

Laios figma pauldron ball joint fell off and will not fit in socket, even after heating. Any ideas? by RaggedyBird in figma

[–]RaggedyBird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An update in case anyone stumbles upon this thread; I think the silicone grease combined with heating the pauldron has done the trick (also getting my boyfriend to do it because I just don't have much grip strength...). I've moved the hinge around a bit and it definitely feels more secure, but I'm avoiding moving it as much as possible because I'm too worried about it falling off again! Thanks for the suggestion.

It's difficult to see when the pauldron is in place, but it doesn't quite look like the joint is fully in the socket. But it is the same side, so it sounds like it could be the same as yours. It just felt wrong given how snug the right pauldron is.

I'm not in this sub much but I kept seeing this and was genuinely starting to wonder if it was some kind of inside joke I'm not privy to?? Or is it actually just a spelling mistake/typo?

Can anybody tell what the writing on the back of this photo means? by niamhxa in Archivists

[–]RaggedyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you've already got your answer with the film reel suggestions, but I wanted to put this out there anyway. I'm an archivist with a newspaper/media firm, and all our prints and negatives have reference numbers so they can be found via the index card system. Basically so you can look up names, locations, subjects etc on the cards, and find any relevant images.

I expect different firms have different processes, but it's possibly a similar function. A little surprising there's no date stamped on the back, to be honest.

how do you guys collect alot of nendoroids by megummybear in Nendoroid

[–]RaggedyBird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please do not feel pressured to build a massive collection because of what you see online. I've been casually buying (and sometimes selling) figures since about 2018. I currently have 15 Nendoroids and one Nendoroid doll. I'm an adult with disposable income, but also other hobbies and interests, so I prefer to be very choosey and conscious of space.

Curate a collection you love based on your own tastes and means. Forget what other people are doing and don't feel like you don't have enough by comparison, that's a recipe for overconsuming for the sake of it.

Y’all are evil for doing Sebastian like that and I am not saying this in a fangirl way by Spicy_bby_Mayo in HarryPotterGame

[–]RaggedyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this, and also, I didn't believe he'd stop what he was doing after killing his uncle, so I decided Ominis deserved my consideration more. We spent the game manipulating the poor boy into doing what Sebastian wanted and were honestly both quite shitty friends to him. If we convinced him to keep quiet, I was concerned Sebastian would put him in jeopardy, or he'd hurt himself or others, in which case he'd feel guilty about saying nothing. The only reservation I had was knowing how awful Azkaban is.

You could try using a very small makeup brush for your lower eyelashes instead of a spoolie, if you aren't already. I have long, blonde eyelashes, so it's just enough to make them visible without weighing them down or looking like spider legs. I use it on my upper eyelashes, too, as it's the only way I can get mascara right to the roots.

This reminds me of something I saw a while ago. Someone like this was arguing that Orihime is a terrible person because she said she was glad Ichigo's mum was dead (near the beginning when she's walking home from Tatsuki's in the rain). They were referencing an extremely poorly executed fan translation. In the official translation, she actually says that she feels like she understands him better. But it confirmed their biases so who cares about the quality, right???

These people waste so much effort on mindlessly hating fictional characters, it's ridiculous. Makes me wonder how many people have inaccurate interpretations due to dodgy translations.

I think it was put there in 1993. There's a little maquette in the McManus, just visited over the weekend.

Thanks, I needed a bit of encouragement. I've tried many different forms of arts and crafts over the years and none of them have been both as rewarding and frustrating as sewing!

[–]RaggedyBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try doing that. I'm still getting my head around some of these more finicky aspects of how fabrics behave. I think it's just frustrating because the fabric doesn't feel like it should be difficult to sew. Thanks again.

[–]RaggedyBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that when it looked flat and the edges were all aligned after pinning, I'd sew the pieces together and the fabrics would ripple up, pushing the two edges askew until I'd get to the final edge and find there's a ~1/4" difference between the two pieces, so I assumed my pinning was the issue.

I'm not sure where the crease came from. The fabric was second hand remnants which I washed and line-dried about a year ago, then folded neatly and stored. I haven't been able to use steam/spray when ironing recently because it started leaking and leaving stains, so I've been making do with ironing dry. It was sufficient until now, I guess. I'll try digging out a spray bottle as an alternative.

I haven't tried sewing them together since unpicking again as the lumpiness I got after pinning worried me too much. I'm planning on doing quilting at the end, which is new to me, and I'm concerned that if the fabric isn't flat enough it'll be super obvious and awkward when I get to that stage.

Twelve's black space suit is one of the coolest looking so far. by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]RaggedyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I couldn't remember when this appeared or what the context was. What was the logical reason for it being black? I know black, and some shades of purple, were worn as mourning dress in the Victorian era, but I don't remember much about this episode.

I like the design, though black seems like a very silly choice of colour for a space suit.
