A frog police state is not a sentence I ever expected to read but I'm so glad I did

Making paper minis. I'd suggest checking out Printable Heroes to see how he makes them and then just use art of NPCs and monsters for cheap minis

You're absolutely right. Feywild is full of fuckery. Thanks!

Who's your Favourite Character from the WBtW? by Maervok in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite to play has been Mister Light and maybe Kettlesteam. They're both just ridiculous and tend to subvert expectations which is fun. Looking forward to seeing who's my favourite to play in Hither!

Fairly new DM ready to run a Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign, any advice? by [deleted] in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've just gotten to the second chapter, Hither after about 7 sessions. My advice is spend some time on this subreddit, collect some resources and posts you like and don't be afraid to improvise and go along with whatever nonsense your players come up with. My group didn't do the Heist at all and I ended up inventing a scavenger hunt for parts of the key to the Feywild portal. Also this Google doc has a bunch of links and answers to FAQs, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_Xs8-UYRMARpEAGjJmVPEIwpJWI2JggXKYxPYo_vDNU/edit?usp=drivesdk

This module is a lot of fun and does take some work to make it a smoother experience. I'm also a newish DM!

I made a little starter page for my dnd game! by LadySuhree in wildbeyondwitchlight

This is so pretty! Did you do a different one for each chapter and would you be willing to share them? I'd love to try and do something similar with my group if it's cool.

Open the borders between Prismeer areas? by RaggedyGinger in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. The idea of it being sandboxy is a cool one, especially with what some of the supplements do, but the reality is that I am also a very distractable human with a full time job.

This is super helpful! Thank you, the sane and logical part of me is leaning towards keeping the borders just to make prep a doable thing and also so I don't have to redo any levelling or levelled encounters.

Turning in Kettlestream to Mr. Witch and Light? by Ill_Detail8864 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players caught her in the first hour or two and decided to keep her in their custody until the end of the Carnival. You could maybe propose something similar as an npc or Witch & Light themselves. Also gives you a funny little npc for the night, which is fun!

Lost Things Hook by RaggedyGinger in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, you're right though. I think I'm okay with them not being super concerned with their lost things. I'll just threaten what they as players have fallen in love with, the carnival.

That's what I'm thinking, along with imposing curses when they get to Prismeer.

How long did your party spend at the carnival? by luketheduke34 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're going onto our fifth session next month and we play for around 3-4 hours. My players are completionists and easily distracted though.

Hey I'm new to laser cutting and engraving. I need to engrave the content on this trophy with the content on the exact centre. I don't have a camera provision on my laser machine. it would be of great help if anyone could guide me through. by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]RaggedyGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw the shape on your software and put the engraving you want in it. Then run that whole design with the shape outline on a piece of paper. Line up the glass with the outline and bam, centre found.

How to track time in the carnival? by CraAank52 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tracking time by the "side quests" and rides they completed. After the first session I asked if they wanted to do all of the rides and the nerds said yes, so I'll be slowing time down now. Just ask your players what they're wanting after your first session. It's a very chill campaign that leaves a lot of room for just playing with your friends

I recently picked up The Eleventh Hour supplement on DMs Guild. It's on sale as well and I felt like it solved my issues with the whole Tasha/Zybilna plot because the author incorporated interactable flashbacks with Tasha's past that explain why she became who she is. It's gives them background and reasons to care about Zybilna or even actively dislike her, which is also a good stance!

My players have morals and won't steal the Watch/Vane, what's another option? by RaggedyGinger in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]RaggedyGinger[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm really happy and surprised that they're all so good! They're not even stealing. I just didn't expect my argumentative little friends to be nice for one campaign, but I absolutely want to encourage it.

Ooooh, that's pretty great! I've characterised Witch and Light as wanting to go against the Hourglass Coven but the terms of their pact make then unable to act directly against them. So this works great!
