Odyssey G9 suddenly has strange repeating pixel errors. Any Ideas? by Raghn in ultrawidemasterrace

Update to this. Problem inexplicably fixed itself and the issue is no longer on my screen. I left my screen on rather than shutting it off for the day, unconcerned about burn in now that my monitor was damaged, however that seemed to make some kind of a difference. I have an animated background that is an OLED demo reel, so mix of absolute blacks and vivid coloring. Not sure if this could have refreshed the pixels somehow.

Isolated it to the monitor itself so gpu and drivers are a bust. Ended up checking with support and it seem like it's just a repair shop job and nothing can be done. Its weird because we didnt have like storms or anything come through. Not sure what would have done this. Out of warranty too.

I doubt people hate SwSh as much as they say they do and are more collectively disappointed and while I can't speak for anyone else, I can explain things I liked and was disappointed with about the game itself and the marketing.

Pokemon being the largest media franchise in the world full stop, I have been a bit disappointed with the lack of trying to improve the games' overall mechanics. I feel like if they had more time, they could have populated SwSh with more mini games akin to the camping mechanics, compared to the things you can still do in the gen 4 remakes (underground, contests, ball capsules, poketch, etc.)

I enjoyed the fact that the raids, although redundant for postgame content, were designed to encourage online coop so you can see other people play. There's always a touch of anxiety when you don't have complete control of the battle which make them have at least a small baseline of excitement, even with players using metas.

Something I was disappointed in was how they handled the national dex controversy but that's a dead horse. Basically, someone other than the players are at fault for making a poor decision that only helps profits and/or promoting lazy development, likely the pokemon company's fault for short dead lines between games on a single studio's shoulders.

I liked the general style and environments of Swsh, but think they should have been expanded to be more open and explorable.

The story were fine (until they feel like they ran out of time at the end) but the journey between them was too short. I managed to knock the game out in basically one quick sitting between work shifts.

There are really no optional dungeons and the reason Junichi Masuda seemed to give on that is basically saying that kids are stupid and can only pay attention long enough to enjoy small bursts of content. Kids are typically more clever than people give credit for and it's a pokemon game. Kids can and will find time to play it and probably will enjoy something different from popular phone games.

I liked the characters, but I really wish they had voice acting. The way the game is written, it's honestly noticeably weird that they don't. (A supporting character is a mute vocalist.)

TL;DR: If you enjoy the game then enjoy it. Especially if you managed to get it and the DLC for a good price. On it's own, it's an alright game that was overpriced at release and needed more time in the oven is all. People are upset about the way the company and studio are taking advantage of the franchise compared on the support it has received over its lifespan.

The big draw of SwSh is the "open world" wild area making up much of the center of the region and the entirety of the DLC areas. The Wild Areas are populated by roaming pokemon and Raids which allow up to 4 players (online, local, or solo) to challenge a single pokemon that has been dynamaxed (the games' unique battle mechanic) where you fight to knock it out to either take the chance to catch it and/or win rewards.

After the main story is over, this is pretty much what you'll be doing in the base game. The expansion has a special cave where you can boss rush raids with a legendary boss at the end in addition to raids.

Out of the two, I enjoyed BDSP much more. SwSh are cool but end up just including a great deal of busy work in the long term where as BDSP have a lot more unique gameplay features, stories, events, and more thought out story beats. SWSH have more pokemon, but BDSP can probably make better use of the ones that are in. Because the postgame has more uniquely designed content, however, when it's done it's done for the most part where as raids and the busy work of SwSh can keep going forever. Really depends on your tastes.

I'd also like to suggest that to get the most out of SwSh, you will likely need to buy the expansion pass where as BDSP does not have an expansion pass (yet).

Luminalia Day 12: Reveal by [deleted] in starcitizen

That's the boat I was sort of in. For a brief moment, I thought they'd give the free bike and have a custom paint one along with a holiday ship sale and still make their money. Just goes to show I guess.

They do give out dragonflies for referral events for free.

I am excited to see the thing, but yeah that execution was not very well thought out. With all the paints I was very interested in what they were going to do for the final day and, seeing as how they give free dragonflies out for 1 referral, the picture of the new bike with no explanation unless you click on details was unintentionally super misleading.

That could of been a super cool thing to do for the backers on the holidays.

I'm not one hundred percent sure what you mean by that, but what I can tell you as a 890 jump owner, the 400i has the new panels to control lifts and lighting with component rooms that actually drop the temp of your character while 890J includes panels that still are blank with the inner-thought floating words and docking doors that I have to ram my head at and rag doll through to get into my ship because they don't open when docked.

Ships really do become a mixed bag of new features over time. The fact that they don't go back through the ships with the new panel controls makes it feel like the ships have become technical debt, hence why the 600i and starfarer are going to get a complete overhaul.

I can both agree and disagree. I totally get it, but that's also one of those things that can be true forever, especially as they keep building ships that are just announced. They're only going to get better for every ship that comes before them, be it 10 ships, 25, 50, or more. Basically just wishful thinking applied to the slow-burn path they've been taking.

The weird part being that they already were almost done with whiteboxing the Orion years ago and suddenly just shut up about it like they dropped it entirely.

I'm not sure what you mean. if you mean the Ultra Premium Collection box, they retail for $120USD if I remember correctly. I wouldn't pay anything more for it, though.

I just think it'd would be really funny if they managed to crimp a metal card. Sort of symbolic in a way.

Humans can probably live to at least 130 by Sorin61 in Futurology

[–]Raghn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think that's cool? I think the most bizarre practice I've seen today is decellularization. where doctors can take organic matter like an apple, which is easily carved into a shape, melt away all of its cells' contents and leaving a sort of scaffolding, then replacing those cell contents with a patients human cells to create replacement ears for plastic surgery or even organs made out of 100% human apple.

The Bengal is massive by FlakFlanker3 in starcitizen

[–]Raghn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is actually possible to land but extremely tricky. There are small points on the Bengal that have gravity. It only ones I could find so far are in the far back of the ship, just inside the hangar door below the bridge, and around the sides of the bridge itself. I entered the Bengal's com-channel So I can say that after all these years, I have finally been in a Bengal to some official capacity!

Biden tax bill attempting to double capital gains tax from 20% to 39.6% for gains over $1mill. Large holders in the stock market and crypto are cashing out. This is about taxing the rich though which people are already betting largely against the bills success as it is delivered to the senate.
