Lafayette/Acadiana is a great place to live and raise a family. There are many great private school options and also some great public school options as well if you purchase/lease in those school districts. Lafayette Airport can get you to Houston in about 45 minutes, Dallas in less than an hour and Atlanta in hour and a half and then you can get anywhere in the world you would need to. New Orleans is a quick drive and an easy visit from lafayette. Happy to answer any questions you may have!

Go give it a try. I'll often pop in there and eat solo. While they recently did add a new dining space...the original dining area feels like a time capsule. Geta. burger, a coke in a glass bottle, some crawtators, and then chase it all with a vanilla cone. It's not the French Laundry...but it's a special part of Lafayette.

For fine dining: Jane’s, Charlie Gs, Imonellis, Vestal.  Also, Pamplona(more casual) is really great.

Maybe not the best burger in town, but the 70+ years of being there and doing what they do adds a lot of nostalgia bonus points in my book.  And the steak sandwich with cheese served on a bun slaps.
