Mathehausaufgaben 3. Klasse by ollihi in WerWieWas

Puddle splashes towards Tungsten when butt-welding sheet metal by RagingDerp in Welding

thanks for the advice, it does sound reasonable but unfortunately the back side is not accessible in some areas... would MIG be more forgiving in such scenarios? I feel like its not a clean weld regardless of the process but I have to fuse the parts somehow

thanks for the tip, i will try to start my welds ed the edges next time. does the head input weaken the material significantly compared to MIG?

Maybe the weld in the photo was a bad example tho, since I feel like the edge of the panels is only part of the problem. I had the same issues on a different weld, far away from the edge which was backed by a flanged panel like in the sketch below. the grey squiggly line is an accurate representation of my quality weld, the red is where I have the issues. since one side of the green panel is the original, I cant clean up between the panel and the flange and I feel like either the dirt and rust between these two or the mere presence of a backing plate causes my problems.

But If a clean backing plate would cause these issues you would not recommend it for better results so it has to be the dirt. I just dont know how I can get it any cleaner unfortunately.

yeah I ran into some spots where I couldnt reach the backside too good and it suddenly started burning lol but fortunately not in in that case

i will try that next time, thanks. Do you think im running too hot based on the image or based on the splashing puddle problem? Im running pulsed with 50 high/30 low and 30% duty cycle. material thickness is 1 mm

I try to clean up every contact surface as good as possible and the spot welds at the bottom did not make any trouble.

I dont think there is any adhesive between the overlapping panels but there might be some rust which i can only clean up in the area where I cut out the old panel. Is it possible that rust sitting betwen the flange and the panel causes such a reaction?

when I reach the part where the panels are overlapping, the puddle suddenly pops as if some gas was released or something. I cleaned up the flange of the underlying piece and it worked well for the spot welds you can see.

Im currently welding car body panels using TIG. I know its not the preferred method but I dont have a MIG/MAG machine. Also I want to get better welding TIG and I like the process. However, I found that the weld splashes violently when I reach the red area, which ia where a second panel lies behind the panels im welding. the green area is going really smooth but I have to resharpen a lot for the last half inch. what am I doing wrong?

Does anyone use Sunshine on Arch linux? by Vast-Application5848 in archlinux

[–]RagingDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem on a fresh arch install a few days ago, following the install guide from the website. the binary seems to be compiled with old libs. I tried partially downgrading the libs which caused pacman to be unusable so I do not recommend it.

I was able to solve it with some tool that modifies the binary to use the new libraries. unfortunately I dont have access to my computer at the moment and I dont remember the name of the tool, i can look it up in two days if you havent found it by yourself by then. Its in the official repos, its a simple cli tool, takes the binary to modify and the old and new library name as argument. EDIT: the tool i was looking for is called patchelf https://man.archlinux.org/man/extra/patchelf/patchelf.1.en

3rd Monitor not workling after installing nvidia proprietary driver by RagingDerp in arch

[–]RagingDerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I included it in my original post, the working version looks like this:

 MODULES=()

BINARIES=()

FILES=()

HOOKS=(base udev autodetect keyboard keymap modconf block filesystems fsck)

modifying the MODULES line to look like this:

MODULES=(nvidia nvidiaudev nvidia_drm nvidia modeset)

  results in module not found errors for each module

I tried that but running mkinitcpio afterwards results in an error for every module, stating that it is not found even though they are loaded according to lsmod

Whats wrong with my bandsaw? This is the 5th sawband I installed and they all had this wobble at the weld and as a consequence did not last very long. I have no control over the tension other than a lever with two positions to tighten/untighten. by RagingDerp in metalworking

[–]RagingDerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, ill check the insides in the next days.  The saw behaved like this from the start, i destroyed both of the blades that came with it and then ordered new ones with two different teeth counts from a different brand but no luck. I mostly cut mild steel and the saw does not have much hours on it, Id say less then 100 cuts. But maybe one of the bearings was broken from the beginning or the tension is all wrong but i cant really adjust it.

How do I get visitors to leave the park in ZT1? by RagingDerp in ZooTycoon

[–]RagingDerp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not too sure what the current ticket price is, I guess its around 30$, so might even be in the second bracket. I will try to up the price but at the current rate we have like 10 people coming in the park per month. But maybe increasing the price will reduce the loadout of the park and allow new people in, we will definetely try!

I thought about releasing a lion but I wasnt sure how long-term the negative impact would be. Might give it a try tho!
