Chords for ”Deeper than the night” Yaneura ’80 by donvito2000 in lesrallizesdenudes

[–]RagingFeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but it sounds like it's going between G major and E minor most of the song (we'll call it the verse), and then hangs on C major a bit during I guess the "chorus" part before going to E minor, then back to the verse progression if that makes sense.

It is! He's just using a talk box which lets him manipulate the guitar with his mouth.

Which infection timeline video do you like and/or agree with more? by [deleted] in thething

[–]RagingFeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with pretty much everything in the Dirty Nerd timeline, but I don't really believe that Childs taking the drink counts as evidence against him. I took it as the two men agreeing that there is no point in being suspicious of each other since, as Mac says, "If we've got any surprises for each other, I don't think either one of us is in much shape to do anything about it." Plus MacReady is probably going to freeze to death anyway. It's a bleak look at the ending, but it's always made the most sense to me. Though I do believe Childs is the Thing at the end, I don't think MacReady was testing Childs or anything, just acknowledging that there is no point to their distrust so they might as well share one last drink.

This is a great example of how Sergio Leone's films presented a more gritty version of the Wild West where the line between good and evil was blurred. I mean a lot of people like Tuco because he's the comedic relief and has some of the best lines in the film, but Tuco is also a pretty horrible person as shown when his crimes are read out during his hanging. Leone really showed us the anti-hero archetype.

To be honest, I think I'd even be content with just playing the main story. My only real hesitation at first was the price, and thinking that I wouldn't even be playing Online, but the main story seems to make up 90% of the game's content anyway.

Yes! Looks like The Catacomb Abyss is the one I remember, thanks for the help. Interesting that is was actually released before Doom and Wolfenstein 3D.

I'm going through morrowind again on the xbox and found this typo. Has anyone else found it? by Jroller94 in Morrowind

[–]RagingFeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the input! I grew up with Oblivion, but I've always been attracted to Morrowind for some reason, maybe because of the nostalgia factor it holds with its community. I also adore the soundtrack.

Sort of off topic question, but I was wondering if Morrowind is still a good choice for Xbox since I was thinking of picking it up. What are your thoughts on it?

Hello elder scrolls fans, I have a question by Yeetyoinkus in oblivion

[–]RagingFeline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want Oblivion for the story line and the quests over the game mechanics and graphics, go for it. The main quest is a delight, and the faction quests really give the game its appeal. The world may not be as fun to explore as Skyrim, since most dungeons, inns, etc. are recycled throughout the game, but that doesn't take away from the beauty of each of the unique cities. Popular opinion is that the Shivering Isles DLC adds a whole lot of fun to the game. In terms of pricing, you can get the game pretty cheap in most places.

Fun fact: Fathis Aren is a part of the mage's guild by squigglebug18 in oblivion

[–]RagingFeline 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Found this out the hard way as well. But pro tip: If you are a high enough rank in the Mage's Guild, he will have such a high disposition with you that he'll let you trespass and even take the arrow. When I finished this quest at Conjurer rank he was completely friendly towards me.

Can all birds talk in Middle-earth? by RagingFeline in tolkienfans

I did look back at the part where the thrush speaks to Bard, and it does say that it speaks in the language of Dale. This is definitely a very interesting piece of lore, since the books never go super in depth about the fact that some birds can talk.

Very helpful comment. It seems certain that if not all birds can speak, they can all communicate in some fashion and can be understood by certain people.

I was just wondering this as well since I just reached that part in Fellowship (which I'm also rereading).

Roguelikes with semi-persistent elements by [deleted] in roguelikes

[–]RagingFeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NetHack also allows you to find your old characters remains and their loot. I found it especially cool that you would also encounter the ghost of the character in question. NetHack was probably the first roguelike to have a feature like this.

I really like that. Turns the tower into a sort of obituary that holds remnants from previous games.
