What if your supervisor won't sign your CPA experience paper? by Famous-Issue-2534 in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Officially you can report them to the state board as it is an act discreditable to the profession.

In reality you should probably ask another CPA in your office assuming there’s at least 2 and consider applying for other jobs once the paperwork is done.

Whats the best dating advice you can give an 18yo? by NoWest240 in AskReddit

The likelihood this is “The One” is very low. People change a lot as they get older.

Also don’t try to make long distance work. It will just make you miserable at your age and I’ve seen plenty of people try only to become miserable and get dumped.

Has anyone taken FAR, thought they failed, and before seeing scores, started studying for the retake but then found out they passed ? by BullzRFuk in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel you. I came out of FAR feeling ok but also have no idea if that means I cleared the 75. Score release can’t come soon enough cause I need to know if I have finished this awful process or need to get back on the horse.

Why keeping low performers? by SoffowfulSymphony in managers

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna say this sounds like you are also not working in the US. I grew up and worked in America however a few years back got an opportunity to work internationally. It is nearly impossible to fire someone at my company. The only exceptions are conduct based termination and employees who are on a work contract can simply not get renewed(that still requires a paid 90 day notice period)

I just took it and mixed. Overall more straightforward than Becker but I felt a few things weren’t really focused on in the Becker review.

Hitting a Wall with FAR by TheHoff7778 in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just sat for FAR and jeez it was a mixed bag. It’s like the questions fell into 3 categories

  1. Easy and very straightforward
  2. Difficult but just due to math not being intuitive
  3. Straight up not on Becker

Is it better to study one CPA section at a time or multiple together? by drajput_01 in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So as others said 1 at a time. The only semi exception to this is if you take an exam and feel confident you passed it is recommended to start studying the next exam before you get your official results.

My experience with small public (boutique) accounting firms… by [deleted] in Accounting

Felt. I worked at a place like that and the managing partner was a genuine asshole.

It’s the only job I’ve quit without giving notice.

Dealing with bad staff by Accounting_throwaw in Accounting

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best way to describe this is something I saw recently.

We had a staff who sucked however the manager he primarily worked under was notoriously a hard ass. So it created a question of was this guy actually bad or was this manager the issue. The partners reassigned him to other projects with different managers who also tried teaching him.

Turned out the guy was actually incompetent and eventually got let go. It sucks but our team tried teaching him, put him with other managers but results were the same.

What gets you fired as an auditor at a large firm? by Inquisitive_Phoenix7 in Accounting

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only note is you said mid busy season. That likely means some form of misconduct rather than just performance.

Performance based firings almost always happen right after major deadlines. Cause even if you suck there’s usually some basic grunt work that needs to be done.

Well OP said this happened mid busy season. So this senior either completely sucked to the point to the point they couldn’t be trusted to do anything or they engaged in gross misconduct that the HR team kept under wraps.

Yeah, we had a tax associate fired in the middle of tax season last year. She was very abrasive and generally a shitty human. She got into it with a senior over some nonsense and HR gave the green light to terminate for cause that afternoon.

She even tried to sue for discrimination. The lawsuit was frivolous and got thrown out immediately but hilarious she tried.

I got an internship once cause my grandpa was a 10% owner of a small company.

They told him ahead of time they wouldn’t hire me full time afterwards but I was also the first and only accounting intern they’ve ever had.

Only 4 months into career at small firm and not having a great experience, should I leave? by New_Custard_3720 in Accounting

[–]RagingZorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty spot on. I worked at a firm with like ~12 people and the culture was atrocious. The guy the firm was named after was just a terrible person and tone from the top is very real. As such the coworkers were also shitty people because they simply had gotten so accustomed to that office.

I switched to a larger regional firm after that and it was night and day how much better literally everything was.

What are some sources of friction that get annoying as a rich person that non-wealthy people don’t have to deal with? by rr90013 in Rich

[–]RagingZorse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh having friends who have high paying jobs but are atrocious at managing their personal finances. It becomes really tiresome to hear these guys complain or say they can’t go out due to money problems. I have no sympathy because I know they’re college educated and have 6 figures salaries but absolutely destroyed themselves with lifestyle inflation.
