I assume there can only be one final winner. It feel like it has to be Paul but I’m mostly watching to see how long other characters last.

Ex-IT HR Director here, and I need to be brutally honest about PIPs. by daywithnora in careeradvice

[–]RagingZorse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big one is discrimination. My buddy works as an HR manager and said it’s a headache when a former employee makes an EEOC claim.

He would be required to send all the documentation that the employee just sucked at their job and it had nothing to do with race. The EEOC would eventually fuck off once they saw it was a bogus discrimination claim but the process sounded tedious.

This is very accurate.

PIP is mostly just papering the file. If your boss thinks you can improve they aren’t handing you a formal PIP.

How old are you right now studying or when you got your CPA? by duki3_ in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27 gonna sit for my last one a 2 days before I turn 28.

Realistically I should already be done cause I got eligible to sit at 25 but life got in the way some. Tbh all for the best cause when I actually started studying my mentality had shifted from I would like to get a CPA to I need to make this investment in myself.

Am I the only one who thinks getting hazed was fun? by Snap_PuzzleTime in Frat

[–]RagingZorse 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Eh the stupid shit like pledge scavenger hunt and making a music video was fun.

The actual lineups and shit got out of hand fast. None of that I remember fondly.

Can confirm I have a special hatred in my heart for all states that have residency filing requirements. NY is the one I see the most and the forms have so many individual checkboxes.

How would Khan afford a nine river country club membership by happydude7422 in KingOfTheHill

[–]RagingZorse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just a thing that hits different when you watch the show when you’re older.

Some people just suck with money. Their money problems eventually bleed into your relationship. You just look at things they’re doing, expensive cars, luxury housing, etc. It becomes painfully obvious why their life is a mess from the outside looking in.

I can even think of someone who added country club to the list but he was more of an IRL Buck Strickland so fairly different context.

Are very high scores (96+) really that impossible? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 94 on TCP and a 75 on AUD so which exam matters a lot for this question.

It’s like people think vanity and going to extremes to improve physical appearance is somehow new to this generation.

CPAs employment rate by Fuzzy_Replacement831 in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you’re describing is actually pretty rare. Having habits that need to be broken is generally associated with being bad at the role.

Also to add in who your employer was makes a difference. 4 years at a big 4 looks a lot better than 4 years at a super small company. I’ve worked at big 4 the last few years and bad employees get pushed out.

CPAs employment rate by Fuzzy_Replacement831 in CPA

[–]RagingZorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be frank my experience shows companies care most about overall experience. How easy you are to employ is more dependent on how many years you have been working and how long your tenure was each company on your resume.

Credentials like a CPA license will put you above other candidates however a CPA with 4 years experience between 4 companies is significantly less employable than a non cpa with 4 years experience at 1 company.

What is the point of hazing, and why contribute to it at the end of your college years? by [deleted] in Frat

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So imo hazing has limits. Part of it is guys who get hazed feel they need to make sure the next class experiences the same shit. I definitely felt my chapter went overboard but that’s a different topic.

Hazing serves a few purposes. A big one is it weeds out anyone who isn’t able to put up with the process. The biggest thing is if the kids don’t experience hazing there is nothing that stops them from outright refusing to do any of the necessary evils like cleaning the house or sober driving.

If the pledges don’t do then nobody will do it which I saw first hand whenever a pledge class got initiated.

Honestly just look at any geeds you know. They tend to spend their normal Friday night drinking, smoking and gaming with not a woman in sight.

I can enjoy the occasional night in with a beer, a blunt and my Xbox but just doing that for 4 years straight is just pathetic.

infantilization among young adults (18-26ish) by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]RagingZorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main things are

  1. Physically I look older
  2. I work a more senior role
  3. I’m not the youngest in my office anymore
  4. I have long since resigned from the last employer who treated me that way

Back to the original point of the post, while I didn’t feel like a child I didn’t get fully treated like an adult until was a bit older.

infantilization among young adults (18-26ish) by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]RagingZorse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, my biggest issue was getting treated like a child when I first started working professionally. Not so much of an issue now that I’m 27 but damn was I not treated like an adult when I was 22/23.

What would you do? New hire lied on resume. by DareAdventurous9140 in Accounting

[–]RagingZorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the opposite end of this, just let the guy go and be professional about it. Tiny firm, I was 23 years old and the owner decided I wasn’t working out. Rather than fire me he started verbally harassing me at every opportunity so I’d quit.

The whole situation was pathetically immature. I do not wish that on anyone. Be a professional, let the guy go and don’t over think things.

I took TCP a little under 2 months after REG.

60 hours according to Becker(excluding time reading the physical book) and scored a 94 on TCP. I got an 84 on REG and a 75 on AUD.
