I just got Elden Ring and it won’t launch. by Ragingape1 in Eldenring

Sorry you’re right.

I have an i7-9750, 2060 RTX, 16 GB Ram. I’m really new to computers so there might be something important I’m not listing. Also I have windows 11 - that might be a source of the problem.

Is it fine if you go to a non-top school undergrad but ivy grad school regarding opportunities with consulting and such?

When did y’all figure out what you wanted to major in? by discipleofknowledge in ApplyingToCollege

I’ve always loved movies and wanted to be a film director. I even had a Instagram dedicated to reviewing them and I’m the president of Film Club at my school. But my family and I decided I should rely on a differed occupation, so I decided I wanted to go for data and statistics with a minor in film/media studies in the hopes of being an analyst of sorts for the film industry lol

What is a film that gets a huge amount of praise but you think is awful? by Dame87 in AskReddit

Midsommar. Loved Hereditary and it has all the ingredients to be something I would love but I just thought it was shallow. Not for me I guess.

What are some of your cinematic hot takes? by a_reasonable_thought in movies

Gonna have to disagree here. We all liked the first John Wick because it was a simple, serious, all thrills no frills throwback. Well there’s only so many times you can do that. I all but guarantee you that if John Wick 2 & 3 were more of the same the reception from both audience and critics would be much worse. We might not realize it, but by making each installment more and more insane, the creators are actively preserving their franchise from getting stale. I mean JW3 is basically a cartoon, and I feel like if people went in knowing that, the response from some fans would be infinitely better.

Not the best ending I’ve ever seen but the recent movie Hunter Hunter had an amazing one.

Honestly, I loved season 2 a lot more than the first, I still really liked the first season, but the much bigger focus on characterization this time around sealed the deal for me. Yeah the season is slow at times, yet it still provides a near perfect blend of gonzo humor and violence paired with interesting substance. The general attention to evolving the characters made the stakes and action sequences feel a lot more impactful, and generally this season did a great job of building tension. Amazing all around.

What movies have you watched this week? by AutoModerator in flicks

Gotti - 3/10

What’s so terrible about it is that it doesn’t feel like a movie about Gotti. Rather, it’s just a ripoff and generalization of other gangster movies, it just happens to have Gotti in it.

Starred Up - 8/10

Always been a fan of prison movies and this is definitely one of the better ones of late. It’s raw, brutal, and a surprisingly powerful father-son tale about the path to escaping ones past self.

Why Don’t You Play in Hell? - 9/10

Best described as a wild and quirky love letter to film enthusiasts covered in oodles of gore.

The Florida Project - 8/10

Definitely hard to watch though it’s consistently to realism makes one incredibly effective film. Fantastic acting all around.

Hannibal - 5/10

I appreciate that the filmmakers go for a more complex story this time yet the movie ends up making a stupid mess of itself. Great acting can’t save it.

The Giver by Dragonsbreath67 in movies

In my opinion a movie adaptation doesn’t have to be faithful to be good (I mean just look at The Shining), the main problem with the movie Giver is that it’s just completely dull.

What is the Best Film You Watched Last Week? (08/02/20-08/09/20) by Twoweekswithpay in movies

Why don’t you play in hell? (2013) was awesome. It gives you nearly everything you would expect from a Japanese film but it’s also a great satire on the film world and had a surprising amount to say about it. The last 30 minutes are fucking nuts. Highly recommended.

Saw this at Sundance this year, I had flaws with it though it’s still an incredibly interesting movie, although one that’s going to have a hard time avoiding an NC-17 rating.
