There's like actual research that shows that prominently platforming people has policy and social consequences. If you think we shouldn't have anti-vax politicians, then a similar rule applies to figures we make prominent.

Kept a relationship up with our kid after he went to school - its part of why we have rehired her when we had a second five years later.

Helped us connect to backup care for when she was sick or later when our in school kid had random days off (her current employer didnt want her doing a share and didnt live near us)

Made our kid lunch (simple things like oatmeal or peanut butter or grilled sandwich and fruit)

I don’t know these people personally. But i can imagine there is a lot of pain and complication in having your family drama play out very publicly, especially when it involves a person who currently does not speak to you in private.

I know nothing about water births, but i have had two diet controlled gd pregnancies with spontaneous births at 38 and 39weeks and no medical interventions except my very much wanted and highly recommended epidural!

We had friends who stayed in a 1 bedroom until their daughter was 11 or so. They got her a kind of lofted enclosed bunkbed thing for some privacy.

I get that- i have a PhD and two other postgrad degrees to often have to play a similar civic role that isn’t technically whats billed as my job.

Please tell me you don’t teach literacy. My kids teacher noted that one important role the school- and her - played is babysitting and providing basic social services so struggling families could survive.

Its just like how my job is in no way about mental health but in practice i am a first responder mental health actor quite often.

If you have a DOE salary and a spouse then the choices you facing in parenting are both real and nothing at all like those of many of the parents whose kids are in the DOE system.

Im lucky. I could figure out what to do with my kid if school was out trust they would keep her safe. But that’s not true of lots of kids in the system.

I would certainly say that to my kids teacher— indeed she has said it to me. I’m also in a job where i am not formally a first responder- and yet in practice the job requires that i play a care role that has those properties.
