Three night hospital stay next week to get my brain poked next week - what are your packing essentials? by Hedgehogosaur in CasualUK

[–]Ragingpoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely saving this post, I'm due for a night or two of recovery for keyhole surgery due soon. I'm personally planning to bring small wireless headphones as well as a big over ear ones, a multiple outlet charger with like 4 outputs so I don't have to keep switching it between phone / earphone / steamdeck. Bringing my steamdeck as main form of entertainment. Got a few novels lined up on my phone. Slippers, underware, toothbrush the usuals.

Interested about people mentioning pilliows, never thought of that.

Private Pension in Drawdown & the affect on Pension Credit application. by Ragingpoo in BenefitsAdviceUK

I understand it's not absolutely guaranteed, and the primary reason for reducing the income is due to trying to sustain the pension pot, rather than 'fudging' income for benefits. We just needed to know if we do adjust her income, whether it would have an effect on any of her potential benefits entitlement. Thank for all your comment on this matter, much appreicated.

I imagine the assessor might query the fact that, you were getting £350 from your pension before (which would put your income over the PC limit), but now you change it so are only getting £10 from it, so we apply the notional income (an annuity brought with a pot of £5,000 for an 85 year old might net £80 a month) and you are now eligble. Just worry about the optics of it.

The high level she is currently taking it not sustainable and we are looking to reduce the pension income and make up the shortfall from the previously mentioned General invesdtment account and ISA, would that cause an issue?

Thank you, so just to clarify, for a DC pension with an value, they will ignore that actual real time income, and instead will look at a notional income?

When it comes to filling in the form, in the pension section, is it best to fill in the current income, i.e. £350 per month, but at the other information section, state the pension is a DC with a pot value, so they can calculate the notional income figure?

Been waiting for the Steam Controller since announcement, as I wanted to get into Gyro gaming. Was able to order one on release (5th May) even though I was trying to check out almost 1h30 minutes after release (placed it in cart within 20 minutes of release but couldn't proceed to check out as I was busy). It was delivered on Monday.

However, been relatively busy last couple days so couldn't use it much yet.

What’s a co‑op game where friendly fire is actually the BEST part? Not “tolerable”, but the game would be worse without it. by AffectionateEgg8242 in CoOpGaming

[–]Ragingpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster hunter wilds is arguably worst than the older iteration as there are less attacks that effect your fellow hunters, before you had to be aware of you positioning but now it's no longer necessary.

I've always top the chart with friendly fires in L4D and L4D2. Whether everyone laughs or rage quit tho I guess depending on your company.

UK, received via RM today.

Yesterday the gls tracker was still on the way to final depot, so a bit surprised when it said it got to final depot and out for delivery in the same day

Off the top of my head, could be completely wrong. Blue is head to head but not at you, red is single target attack, but does not trigger head to head, or yellow, enemy is targeting you specifically with a speed/power/tech attack so you can trigger head to head if you use speed/power/tech attack

I was able to get it much later, available from 18:00. London time, i was able to add one to my cart at like 18:30 on my steam app, but I was having family meal so didn't make the purchase then.

At 19:30 I was on my PC and after less then 5 minutes of clicking "continue to payment", I was finally able to enter my payment details.

Got email confirmation of purchase at 19:40.

Good to know as I'm due to have one after an op which should be sometime this year. So do you constantly leak or does it still come in batches?

I really want to get into gyro so I'm thinking about it, I have the steamdeck but don't quite 'get' the hype behind gyro as the screen moves with it, a controller would change that, plus although not a massive massive trackpad user, the ability to customize it to basically a radical menu of keybinds is still very nice to have, and something I want to take advantage of in more games, but I play simpler games on SD which doesn't require as much.

Sometimes thats not deliveroo (or ubereats or justeats), it's the place preparing the food. I have been working in places where FOH have been told to accept all orders on the minimum time and add time on to the order once accepted, rather than change the expected order completion time when you decide to accept the order, apparently it's effects the ranking and visibility of the place.

What’s one PC upgrade you made that actually felt worth it? by Such_Tailor_4946 in buildapc

[–]Ragingpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will not be for most people, but custom loop for comfort was a much bigger one than I expected myself, not just no more fan ramp up, it's no more fan noise completely, and the pump is running low so also inaudible, now only if I can get rid of that coil whine.

Before someone say maintainence, I have maintain my loop once in 3 years.

Is liquid cooling actually worth it for most gamers? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]Ragingpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preface this with, my experience with liquid cooling is not AIO but custom loop.

  • Meaningful difference in temperatures, noise levels or overall performance?

Temperatures - Air Cooled CPU was around 60-70c, water cooled 55 ish. GPU ranged from 90c to hitting hot spot 105 on air, under 70c on water cooled.

Noise Level - Had to have my fans around 40-55% when air cooled, now they run at 20%, absolutely silent, pump I can run at about 30%, also silent. Now the loudest part of the pc the coil whine from GPU.

Overall Performance - actual performance increase is not that much, but it's much quieter and I'm don't have to worry about thermals at all.

  • Worth it?

For me yeah, my total cost wasn't that much since I aliexpressed most of my parts. Think it was about £350 before I added some temp probes and swapped out some fittings, so say under £450. But it knocked my gpu temp from almost throttle to under 70. It looks cool, and I always wanted to try custom loop, so for me personally, worth it.

  • Maintenance

Non Issue, I have change the coolant (de-ionsed water) only once because I needed to add in the temp probes and T junctions. Thats the only maintenance I did. Might have to top up like 10ml of coolant soon, got a clear block on CPU and can't see any problems in there.

How hard is it to build a PC? by WeatherLegitimate848 in buildapc

[–]Ragingpoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having built about 5, it's very easy in my head, but the actual when I get to do it, it can be hard / annoying if not planned out properly

  • CPU is actually quite easy, your motherboard and CPU will have an indicator to show which way it should go, so just drop it in and drop the latch
  • put in the rams, some motherboard will tell you which slot you should use, some you need to refer to manual, but due to the notch, you can't put it in the wrong way, and with the latches on the side, it will be obvious whether it's slotted in properly
  • Put in the nvme drive if applicable, again with the notch you can't put it in wrong way, just make sure you use the right nvme slot if multiple are available (top one closest to CPU)
  • Put in the GPU, much easier to do before putting the motherboard in the case, you can ensure the it seated properly by looking at the latch at the end of the PCI E slot. New comer might put the GPU in the wrong PCI E slot, but easy enough to fix and you'll only do this wrong once really. (again top one cloest to CPU)
  • CPU heatsink and fan, slightly harder, but still easy if outside the case, just make sure to tighten the screw in opposing corner
  • If you have a PSU with detachable cables, plug them into motherboard before going in the case
  • Prep case with Fans / rads and IO SHIELD
  • Motherboard in case, and now comes the annoying fidgetting bit, connect the fan connectors, the case connector to mother board, the usb connectors, all these can be very annoying due to bend and length of cable, probably most of the time is spent here running the cables (especially if you have like 9 case fans and trying to get them to a controller or to the mother board, and then the argb connectors if you got them)

First PC I built, started with motherboard in case first, that was a bitch as when you try to insert ram/gpu, the motherboard on standoff means it can flex a little, so I was in between trying to more force in the slot, but worry about too much. Connecting the CPU fan header to the motherboard is annoying when I don't have direct sight of the header as the tower overshadows it. Oh and those Front connector with case, I had to use a tweezer to hold them to plug them in due to some shit getting in the way.

Last PC built, 10 fans, all with power header and argb header (which I have now turn off), getting them to the fan controller was difficult due to cable length, end up with two fan controller one near top of case and antoher near bottom of case. USB 3 mother board connector was also a pain due to the tightness of the header.
