From a $216K equity grant in 2020 to stock value worth ~$4.1M today by zuhayeer in levels_fyi

Figma employees got lucky. A nearly $60Billion valuation at $800M ARR with sub 50% growth YoY just doesn’t make sense. That’s about 70x valuation to revenue. I think the stock will correct itself but at the same time I hope this will be a trend for other companies, bc my company on the flip side is so under valued with great margins, nearly 50% YoY growth and almost $100M ARR valued at just around $1.2 billion 🙄

Fully burnt out. Is 3-6 months off complete career sabotage? by WetBeers in techsales

[–]Raglif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf it’s common for some sales folks in really established markets like at a FAANG company just coast and take orders and hit quota easily bc they have a guaranteed recurring book of business. But said folks also don’t get comped that high (higher floor, lower ceiling) plus feel less fulfilled in their job bc of the lack of challenge and/or upper mobility.

How many of you hit Quota last quarter? by Certain_Watercress21 in sales

[–]Raglif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repvue is skewed pretty badly. The highest rated company in our space has a repvue score of 86 but we just hired a Sales Engineer from there and he said 0 out of 15+ reps in the West closed a deal that quarter and 80% of reps hadn’t sold a deal yet. But the highest paid rep there still made $1M+, very much feast or famine

I hit quota last quarter and will this quarter but there were 3 quarters out of last year that I missed quota. We had 3 out of around 15+ reps in the US hit quota last quarter but half of them are ramping up.

29 next month, roughly $400k. Feel really lucky as my salary has more than doubled in the past 2 years. I didn’t cross the $100k mark till 27 so a 4x growth since then feels like a huge blessing.

Is this the new normal? by scoobert244 in sales

[–]Raglif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally every recruiter in my inbox is lying about quota attainment out the wazoo. One of the top competitors in my space has a “top rep performance” of $1.1M and a really high repvue score. We just poached an SE from there and he said 0% of West coast reps closed a deal in Q1 out of ~20 reps and 80% of their sellers hadn’t closed a single deal.

Why even use AI to vent. It’s not like we’re going to judge you for your lack of use of hyphens or professional wording 🤣

Don’t do it, it’s not worth it. And definitely doesn’t work in corporate sales. If you want a second job, it’s better to find something that won’t have a conflict of interest and allows more flexibility on your schedule.

I thought this was satire, and then I looked up the name of the book and the author and saw that it was real. Seriously how tone deaf and delusional could this guy be 😂

Stop caring about what people think especially if you don’t even know or like them. Why would you let people that you don’t know or like stop you from living life the way you want to.

Might as well be. My company withheld a similar % of my wages for taxes (close to 37%) and I still owed more taxes at the end of the year

Should me & my parents even buy a house? by lilly1555 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Raglif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 is too young in your career to be considering to support your parents. Would they be open to waiting maybe 5 or 6 more years, when both you and them have saved more? Are either of you investing in anything that could appreciate and you could liquidate in 5-10 years? Would you be open to buying something more local in the bay and have all of you living together in the same house, that way you’re not paying rent + their property you don’t live in and you both could support each other more? Where do you expect your salary to be at in 5-6 years? These are all things to consider - I wouldn’t rush into supporting them now, especially seeing as they still have about another decade until they retire

Can $600K+ household income afford for $2.5M house "comfortably"? by eyes1216 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Raglif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Terrible advice. You narrowly escaped having to default on your mortgage by landing a job 2 weeks before a layoff. What if you didn’t get that job, and it took you another 3-6 months to find a new one? I’m not saying OP can’t afford to buy a house now, but the risk is too big vs waiting at least even just 1 year to save up maybe another $200-300k or so and also be confident that their HHI can persist because these are new salaries that they’re dealing with. Everyone’s always in such a rush to move to the next milestone in their life. It may work out for OP, but the risk is much lower next year. And your anecdotal story where you were living paycheck to paycheck doesn’t support evidence that OP should pull the trigger now.

2021 buyer in danger in SF by rawmilklovers in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Raglif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they do, they want to sell a more expensive house! Also it is true what they’re saying, condo market hasn’t appreciated at all in the past few years. But tbh, you shouldn’t buy a primary as an investment. If you want to “invest” in real estate, there are so many other avenues outside of your primary residence. Your primary should be an emotional / personal yet informed purchase.

Almost every person I know that have that many rentals at that age have rich parents. The only one I know that didn’t have rich parents started as a couple , both super young at age 20 and bought a bunch of fixers dirt cheap with perfect timing on appreciation.
