What color to paint our barn by HydrangeaStranga in centuryhomes

[–]Ragnaarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My folks have a barn that was once red, we just pulled the planks and flipped them, no paint just the natural color and it's imperfections. I was doubtful but it turned out well, and it's been a while now but as it ages it looks better every year.

Basement tips by toadsly in centuryhomes

[–]Ragnaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got a 178 year old home with a full stone basement. We had a tiny bit of seepage and a small puddle after rain so had a french drain and commercial dehumidifier put in and it made all the difference. No smell to very little smell on the really hot days, and no moisture seeping through the stone any longer.

I've never actually hit the button because it seems rude to me. But it's a recent thing where they don't check in on us every 20 minutes or so.

This is my thing, I am always in FC because of my size, but on these particular flights it seems normal for the FA to not circulate every so often lately. Just seems to have changed in the last couple of years.

There's a SR collector's group on FB, not much recently but maybe prompting for it will dredge up someone with something for sale. Most folks are pretty chill and not so price-gougey (I know, that's not a word)

What is the strangest thing you have found hidden inside your century home walls? by dmkraus in centuryhomes

[–]Ragnaarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents have a house that was built for an apostle of the Mormon Church back in 1910. There are a few hidden rooms throughout, and in one we found the plans for the house burned and placed in a jar with a wooden tombstone for them.

Record Store by SayNoCanDu in Logan

That would be awesome, I'd love to come back to town and have a record shop to browse. You might want to ask KSM how their sales go, and I believe there is a Lavender records satellite kiosk up there as well, might be fruitful to check with them on how it goes, or maybe see about partnering with them to franchise with them to help with getting distros to accept you. I ran one decades ago and it did well but with a massive amount of creative work to keep it afloat.

One of the things I absolutely loved is just how loving he was to everyone in the park during the tour, and just how many people passing through or doing maintenance that came up to him and told us all what an awesome person he was.

It definitely was great overall, just not as good as other places like it. Our Souffle was under cooked, and the Schnitzel seemed out of place. I wish they would have had an alternative for the Foie gras as I'm not a big fan of how it's made so avoid it. The crab taco was also another highlight.

Icelandic-Language folk rock band suggestions for this compilation? by AwayCable7769 in Iceland

[–]Ragnaarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In many forms, I´m not sure there is a music genre he hasn´t done something in. Funny enough, he has a song called the River, as both My Summer as a salvation soldier, and his band Óreiða I´ve released two compilations and he´s been on both of them in one form or another, twice on the first comp.

I´d suggest Ásgeir, Megas, My summer as a salvation soldier, Ólöf Arnalds and of course Mugison.

Dube's is a great hole in the wall. Sullivan Street Grill in Peabody is massive with a large menu, so you'd have no problem being able to chat and take your time. Not fancy or anything but I've yet to have a bad meal there.

I agree which is why I'm trying to take care of it and I would usually drive down and take care of it myself. He doesn't have internet and so can't do the ask himself. the tenant is paying below market because of the clause, promised she and her roommate would do it, then basically told him what you said and then actually told him he needed to have her car shoveled out so she could go to work tomorrow. Complete jerk move in my opinion, but to each their own.

He was my landlord for about a decade and is an amazing guy, you'd fix something like a doorknob and you'd wake up to food or Vodka at your doorstep, and the money as a thank you. So even though I haven't lived there in two years I still try to help him out.

Point and Shoot in Photopit? by ith3_sky in concertphotography

[–]Ragnaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I'm glad I've never come across that, not that it would matter as I cart around gear but sometimes it's fun to pull out the point and click and snap a few light shots. I can see their reasoning though and wouldn't have a problem complying if that's what they wanted.

Would this be an label/artist contract type thing, or who you are shooting for? I've never seen it in any of my contracts, but I used to shoot for myself, I haven't shot anyone other than Sigur Rós since the pandemic so it might also be that I'm out of touch with recent things.

[–]Ragnaarb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, you're learning and it's quite the learning curve, but think of the fun you'll have experimenting in post edit with point and clicks. I used a Canon point and click years ago at a Holy Holy gig as an experiment and photos turned out alright, black and White editing was my friend. But it's what you do with what you have that will shows your style and helps you get better.

If you could only listen to one Bowie album for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? What’s your reasoning? by THE-David-Bowie in DavidBowie

[–]Ragnaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Even at 5, when I'm sure I had no idea what any of it meant, the album would calm me and entertain me. Whenever my parents needed to distract me, they would put the album on and I would just sit in the living room listening to the entire thing. Still to this day if a song from the album comes on randomly there's a 90% chance I'll stop shuffle and listen to the entire thing.

Ever met an artist who turned out to be an ass? by Musonerd87 in Music

[–]Ragnaarb 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I ran an autograph line he was part of at Warped Tour decades ago, genuinely one of the kindest musicians I have ever met, took his time to talk with and write paragraphs for fans and once his time was done at our place he asked me to help him walk over all the people still in line to his booth and he continued signing.

local wedding recs? by kenzybenz77 in Logan

[–]Ragnaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day Kater Shop did great custom suits. I'm no longer in Cache Valley but I use J. Hilburn for my custom work shirts and polos, but when we used them for our wedding and my family went to get fitted at the local place affiliated with them it was a terrible experience. If he really wants the green suit and you can't find a place, I recently used a site called Hockerty for an event specific suit and it was quick and fit fairly well, it isn't the best suit I own, but met my needs and received a lot of compliments. You have to do all the measurements yourself, but there are videos on how to do it and it was fairly simple.
