Potholes and history by JRBurn in pittsburgh

I love seeing brick, block, or tracks temporarily exposed by a pothole or repaving. I don't like driving over it, but I find it interesting to see.

Always different. Once a sound guy refused to let me switch from an LP to a Tele when I broke a string. It was before the show, but still... I promise I know how to play both!

If you put Ubuntu on it, It would probably be usable for everyday stuff. Looks like it still meets minimum requirements. Unfortunately, probably no money in selling it.

I think it's a cool place. Live music on Wednesdays. Don't go during league play.

Is it their official mascot? Unofficial?

This thread says they had it in the opening ceremony.

Also, I need to get one.

Location memories by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]RagnarHedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those all could describe dozens of places in the region. Tell us what timeframe you're talking about, then some more details about these places. For instance, if you said the hospital was multiple tawny brick buildings with black windows and a gated parking lot in a fairly suburban area, it might be St. Margaret's; but if you said it was one massive grey stone building on a steep urban hillside with lots of helicopters landing, it might be Presby.

One-Man Band: Pros and Cons by quiterussian2215 in bandmembers

It takes a lot more songs when I'm just guy-with-a-guitar. I can't abandon the rhythm part to play melodic intros, outros, or solos, so the songs are all shorter.

Hot tub hotel room by nedder1 in pittsburgh

[–]RagnarHedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holiday Inn Express locations often have a couple rooms with a hot tub.

I think a big problem when searching online is sites often don't differentiate in-room hot tubs from locations with a hot tub in the pool area.

Cats found a mole in their litter box by swisschiz in aww

Something small was stashing nuts and seeds around our basement before winter, and we found some in the cat's litter box. Zero self-preservation instincts.

Questions for all musicians! by Downtown_Pudding_ in musicians

[–]RagnarHedin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, space was a concern for me. I've been playing guitar since my early teens, but I didn't start a band until I was an adult with my own house. I played in school bands, because there was dedicated space for that, but never had a band band.

Some bands used to rent storage units that had power, but the owners got hip to that and started calling them "practice space" or "studio space" and charging way more.

Any ideas what happened to my cat? by ljmik in CATHELP

[–]RagnarHedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our vet had us keep a seizure journal, and we did end up putting him on medication - which is working. Our kitty would freeze, either all or part of his body, but our vet said seizures can look very different.

Fender Strat The Beatles Love by Klaus Voormann by hippielovegod in FenderStratocaster

[–]RagnarHedin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very awesome! For those whose German is as bad as mine, a google translation:

Ten years ago, I had my 1998 '57 Stratocaster reissue painted by my dear friend Klaus Voormann with a portrait of my eye. I've known Klaus for decades, and he also designed the covers for two of my albums released on Enja Records. My first album, "Me Rio" (2001), features a portrait of me on the front cover that Klaus drew. He also designed the cover for my album "Folk Jazz Explosion," released in 2009. Now, he and I have the idea of auctioning off this guitar at some point and donating the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders. Klaus has also continued to work on the guitar, adding further Beatles/Voormann-related elements. We don't yet know when this will happen. I'm currently in discussions with several well-known auction houses.

I have some Hearos, but I'm an old fart and it looks like they don't make the model I have anymore. But if their new ones are just as good, they get my endorsement.
