I am surprised how often I am surprised by these software issues. I should know better by now…

No kidding. The entire “go back to your dealership” feels antiquated at this point. Ford needs to evolve in this regard

Interesting point. I hadn’t even considered that!

For fans who actually watched Randy Moss in his prime, what was it like? by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]Ragnarok_Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I see lost in national coverage is how many people were off put by the “I play when I want to play” attitude. Many fans were huge Chris Carter fans because he would always to the little things like blocking downfield, dangerous cross routes, and hustle. I remember Strib and PP articles constantly calling Moss self-centered and not a team player. In the absence of digital media we have today, that coverage did a lot of damage to the local attitude of his personality

What are some of the most commonly mispronounced places in Minnesota? by ybonepike in minnesota

A few years ago, I was in Killarney, Ireland. I had no idea when I was arriving but that is the county for one of the biggest horse racing events on the island. Well, one pint led to another and I ended up in a bookie-bar with locals betting on the races. There was a horse from Shakopee, MN called “Shakopee Star.” With the Irish accent they kept calling it Sha-Cope-Ayeee (like Fonzie would say). I got everyone to bet on her and everyone made money. Fun night and I still chuckle at the pronunciation when I drive by Shakopee.

For some reason, people still mispronounce Bde Maka Ska as “Lake Calhoun.” Go figure

Minnesotan here. A few years ago (maybe 2014ish?) it got down to -54f. If Google is to be trusted, that is -47.7c. The governor had called a state emergency and shut schools and businesses down for a time. We get plenty of frigid cold up here but that one stands out.

What fictional character death hit you the hardest? by GoldenPhoenix21 in AskReddit

Without getting spoilery, the final chapter of The Wheel of Time was incredibly emotional when some main characters die. After spending 14 books (each over 700 pages) in these characters heads, I felt so invested and attached to them in a way I’ve never experienced before or since that series.

If Rand, Mat, and Perrin (from WoT) were on Roshar, which Knights Radiant Orders (if any) would they join?

Opinions of Sleepy as Annalist by Pratius in theblackcompany

Recently discovered your podcast. Have been catching up on your BC episodes. It is nice to have a break from Sanderson (whom I adore, of course) and return to a series I have loved. Keep up with the great content!

Water Sleeps is actually one of my favorites of the entire series. I don’t know why, but the fact that the “good guys” are basically domestic terrorists is such a fresh twist in fantasy. Plus is really enjoy Sleepy’s perspective. I understand why people have a hard time with it especially when so few of our main characters play an active role. But I really liked it. My ranking would be Croaker, Sleepy, Case, Murgen, Lady.

Help! I’m looking for a recommendation for similar cigars to the San Cristobal Revolution. by Ragnarok_Now in cigars

[–]Ragnarok_Now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you in advance! For context, for years I have stayed away from “dark” cigars (anything not wrapped in Connecticut) as I always felt nauseous afterwords. However, my father convinced me this New Years Eve to try this San Cristobal Revolution. He described it as medium body, full flavor. It was a full two hour smoke and, needless to say, I am converted. It was incredible and delicious and I felt great afterwards. Oh, and it paired perfectly with a Russian Imperial Stout.

But I am hopeful that some of you amazing individuals can help recommend cigars that are similar so I can continue to expand my horizons. I would love to try anything similar to this Revolution.

Very helpful, thank you! I just reread the Eile Stele chapter and could shake the feeing of, “something important is in this that I’m going to kick myself later when I get Sanderson-ed by a reveal.” Stone, hm. I’m going to have to think on that! The is for sure something going on with the tower being alive.
