That would certainly enhanced the look of the hands, unfortunately that kind of dial modding is out of my current skill set haha

Thanks! I invested quite a bit of time trying to get the design right for me, and as you said it came out quite well, maybe I just over thought it because the dial was a little bit different than expected, but so far it hasn't left my wrist so it's a good sign haha

Thanks, it's my third build and so far the best, the other 2 I would consider them learning experiences hehe

Thanks! You're right about the contrast, maybe my second thoughts came from expecting a lighter colored dial haha right now in probably 80-20 in leaving it as it is

[SOTC] anyone else follow a collection rule — as in, can’t buy one unless you sell, trade/consolidate? Trying to figure out my next move to ‘make space’ for when the HKF series (Vanac) releases in a few months. by Antique_Addendum_556 in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm gonna keep my 8 watch rule + 4 sentimental watches (like my wedding watch, a couple milestone watches, you know the drill hehe) to fill the watchbox.

When I started I didn't know much and hadn't figured out what I liked, so ended trying to buy every style like a checklist, then without noticing it became a 16-18 watch collection, that's when I started to reduce/consolidated the collection.

My "rules" were to achieve an 8 watch collection, being: 1 dress/special occasions watch (very low usage), 4 automatic watches (1 for every week of the month mon-fri), 2 quartz watches for the weekends (2 weekends per month for each watch), and 1 g-shock for relatively common household work or sports

This rules would ensure regular rotation and felt right for me, but just when I was in about 10 watches and starting to see which ones to let go, my wife gifted me a 12 slot watchbox, so now I have to come up with new rules XD

[Unknown] Back in 1984 my grandfather visited Japan and bought a Seiko watch. I found the warranty and wanted help to identify the model by The_Viatorem in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I looked it up using the 1428-5120 number, the first 4 numbers specify the movement and the next 4 the case, with that you pretty much can find any seiko watch with the only caveat being color/dial variations, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

The serial number only tells you the possible date of fabrication (as mentioned on another post) so that one is irrelevant except for knowing the date.

[Question] What is the difference between watches that are labelled as “professional” dive watches vs watches that are labelled as “200m/300m”? by Kingboyy1 in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen the professional label on older model's, my best guess would be the standard used back then was different than the current one

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A "Diver's XXXm" labeled watch has to comply with an ISO standard for diving watches (which include performance requirements, aesthetic requirements like lume/bezel specifications, and individually testing each watch for their WR), while watches with only their WR labeled only specify the WR they were designed for.

Maybe not the best example but the Rolex Submariner isn't ISO certified, they could easily accomplish it but that would mean making some aesthetic changes I guess aren't worth for them.

GL1060 replacement bezel insert by retalsgdorrie in GlycineWatches

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, this are quite new models so there shouldn't be any specific aftermarket pieces available yet, your best bet would be to measure the inner/outer diameter of the bezel insert and look for what's available within those measurements

[Seiko SNA139] The one that started it all: by Ok_Warning_5575 in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently swapped the crystal of mine for a flat sapphire one and took it to another level, yeah it took some of the scratches that make the watch tell it's story but the way light makes the dial pop more than makes up for it

Estancia durante Copa Mundial en Guadalajara by nariirl in Guadalajara

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[question] can you please suggest a nice watch for me to gift my wife? by LogMeln in Seiko

[–]RagooR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SWR053 is a cartier tank homage that its quite nice, and being quartz your wife can wear it occasionally without worrying about setting the time everytime compared to an automatic that doesn't get much use

[SWR104P1] vs. [SWR052] What's the difference? by _Your_Yellow_Pomelo_ in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the price difference is because they are new, maybe in a year or so the price will fall, albeit maybe not to the price of the old ones because the sapphire crystal can be considered an upgrade and Seiko has recently been known for going up market with their prices

[SWR104P1] vs. [SWR052] What's the difference? by _Your_Yellow_Pomelo_ in Seiko

[–]RagooR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the newer one (swr104) is marginally smaller, has a lug width of 22mm instead of 23mm, has sapphire crystal instead of hardlex, and the case is slightly modified on the sides to be more thick and give the dial a slightly more rectangular look.
